Don't take it personally. Fegan is every GM's nightmare and probably the most hated agent out there. Fegan's only goal is to get as much money for his client as possible or in this case get them in the position to make the most money in their 2nd contract. He probably feels Arenas' presence will keep Holiday from putting up big numbers before his rookie deal expires. Wizards just need to select the player best for them (or trade the pick) and not worry about Fegan or any other agent.

Hmmm...who's there at 5 that EJ would want? Curry is a PG/SG tweener. He's essentially a wealthy man's Juan Dixon and you know how much EJ loved Juan.
Brand/Daly
Thad/J.Smith
Iggy/Kapono
Curry/Green
Lou/FA
Yep, that's an EJ lineup alright.

Why do rookies need an agent?
Isn't there a rookie salary scale.
Wouldn't there only be a need for an agent for the second contract?

I just love the fact that we have options. I just thought this was going to be a total bummer b/c we got the 5th pick, but this is very interesting. Too many rumors, something is bound to happen.

Don't get too excited. For all we know, Ernie picks a rookie and that's the end of it.

I would guess that they arrange workouts, suck up to the teams that you want to play for the most, spread rumors that inflate you so you'll get picked higher, etc. And once you're drafted, they would work to line up sponsors, campaign for you to win awards, and other things like that. Basically, there's always money to be made, even when you're not signing a new contract, and they do all they can to make you (and, of course, themselves) as much as possible.

Easy, Gilbert fired Fagen right before he negotiated his max-deal depriving him of a huge pay-day. It also showed that players do not necessarily need guys like Fagen.
Fagen is an capital A for A**hole for previous observations of how he handles things.

And if it's any consolation, Fagen is universally hated by Bucks fans for the ridiculously contentious negotiations they had with Yi. He told Milwaukee flat out that their city wasn't good enough. But Yi finally signed - showing that he's full of... hot air, among other things.

You're exactly right, Rico. And people kept saying last year that outside shooting is Philly's biggest weakness. Who's the best jump shooter in this draft? Curry. They traded for Kapono not long ago, but something tells me it'd be extremely foolish to think Kapono is going to be a difference-maker for any NBA team.

lol Stephen Jackson did the same thing to get his extension firing Fegan.

Isn't it exciting? This year something is probably going to happen. 66.7 percent of us are going to hate it, but it's still worth it for the excitement.

he's going in the lottery. his upside is well documented. the only way he makes people second-guess letting him drop out of the top 5 is if he has a paul pierce-esque career.
From the limited times I've seen him, DeRozan reminds me of Richard Jefferson a little bit. A high flier that doesn't have much range or handles. Anybody else see this or am I the only one?
Paul Pierce like career to validate GM's and teams second guess on passing him? I don't think so. He could average 20 and 5 for 10 years, or even 16 and 5 on a winning team, and I think teams are still going to second guess when allowing him to slip by them. Especially, when in all honesty, besides Griffin; no one in this draft is a legit thing. They all have the potential to be busts one way or another. Hence; the weak draft lacking with super star potential.
I think Jefferson and DeRozan are not only a fair comparison, but I've definitely been thinking he's going to have a career similar to Jefferson's. With whatever team drafts him. Then again, his upside is huger then Jefferson's was and if he ever works on his game more and the weak parts of it like he's stated of doing, he could be so much more.

Knicks last offer to the Wizards per Chad Ford:
Hughes for Thomas, James and the 5th pick.

You mean Hughes and the 8, right?

Unbelieveable! That is the worst proposed trade I've ever heard of, and it came from a legit GM, not a raptors fan on the trade and transaction thread.

It's a good thing that was done over the phone probably because Donnie Walsh would have a hard time keeping a straight face with that offer.
Walsh: "Yeah Ernie, we really don't want to see Larry go, but he has such a good history with you guys. I can take back your expiring deals and take that 5th pick off your hands also. Sounds good to you?"
Ernie: "Yeah Donnie, let me get back to you on that. I have four other teams on the line with offers. Thanks for giving us the opportunity to re-acquire Larry though."

Either Ford is getting some bad information (very possible) or the Knicks are not serious about trading up. First its Wilson Chandler for the 5th and now this. Sounds like someone is trying to play EG for a fool.

No matter how bad we were last year, it doesn't mean a rock is running our front office. But if that's the best offer we have, I'm officially depressed.

Don't be depressed about it. I'm sure there are better offers than that. If it means the Wizards keep the pick and draft Rubio/Evans/Harden/Curry, that's by no means a bad thing.

WTF?
If this is true Donnie Walsh must think EG is a complete idiot.

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.
