Cavs draft plans

This year isn't considered a strong draft except for Point Guards. I liked Ty Lawson for the CAVs last season before he pulled out of the draft for his leadership and strong PG skills which were show cased in the National Championship drive this past college season. If the CAVs can trade up...I hope Lawson is the guy the choose. We were very fortunate to have good health for Mo Williams last season and adding quality depth at PG is good IMO. The chatter in the league is that the Cavs are very interested in moving up in the draft. They have been talking to teams just outside of the lottery (starting with the 15th pick) down into the low 20s.

Typically, the Cavs would have a good idea of who is willing to move where and then act on draft night.

As they look to move up, the Cavs might be targeting three players who most certainly will not be there at 30.

One is Ty Lawson, the dynamic and speedy point guard from North Carolina. Though he's small and that doesn't exactly fit what the Cavs need with undersized guards Mo Williams and Delonte West, Lawson has proven to be a winner and an excellent decision maker for the national champs. He's been overlooked by some teams and the Cavs love to find undervalued players in the draft. They feel Daniel Gibson and Darnell Jackson fit that same mold.

Another is Sam Young, an experienced wingman who proved to be a strong defender at Pittsburgh while playing in a power conference (Big East). Ferry is very close to the Pitt program and has been keeping an eye on Young for the past several years. Young fits the Cavs' need for size on the perimeter.

The last is Earl Clark, a tall power forward from Louisville who can play a little inside and out. The Cavs spent an extended period interviewing him at the Chicago Draft Combine. At 6-10 from a power program, he also fits a need.

if some how the cavs moved up and drafted earl clark i would THRILLED to say the least. hell maybe they can do something with the suns we all know how they dont like the nba draft and trade away almost all of their picks.

GB Draft Coverage...feel free to stop on by and spread the Cavs love and news, rumors, Prospect talk, etc leading up to and on Draft night...the GB could use more Cleveland presence (just be polite in doing so).

Agreed on all counts. Phoenix is about the spot we'd need to grab him and he'd be a phenominal fit.

Not saying Hansbrough is the answer, but if there is ever a chance for him to become a wee bit more than just a solid roleplayer, this is the fit. With the chemistry and personalities on the Cavs, the 'One Goal' philosophy, every man doing his part for the team, selfless basketball, tell me a better place for him to land? And don't forget the ultimate X Factor, playing with LeBron raises EVERYONE'S game. Perhaps Andy gets a ridiculous offer and leaves? Even if Andy stays, have more depth. Hickson is STILL a longterm project, Ty can definitely contribute this year.

I think there is a good argument for Hansbrough on the Cavs, but would not be pissed if they were in position and passed, either. If that makes sense?

I am a Tyler Hansbrough fan also. I know alot of people think he will be a stiff but I think at worst he is a very solid reserve PF who can board and has a decent jumper. Also he would be ready to come in and contribute immediately which is what we need frankly.
