Response by Bonnell to this question on his Charlotte Observer blog today (6/19):

Regarding that Dalembert rumor: I wrote a while back that Brown likes him a lot. I don't think there are active discussions right now, but that could change the closer we get to the draft.

This follows some of the chatter we're hearing, which I take as discussion that's happened previously but not active.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

I only do this deal if we swap 17 for 12 as part of the deal. For all of his maddening qualities, Dalembert is clearly the best player in this deal, and unless we get something out of this deal (moving up 5 spots to secure a perimeter guy that we want), I'd rather hold onto Sammy and his contract for one more year.

Personally I think you should just keep him even if we do offer a pick swap.

If Big Sam is already unhappy in Philly I can't imagine that coming to Charlotte to ride the bench would improve his mood.

looks like another version of the trade

The Sixers are discussing a deal with Charlotte in which Samuel Dalembert and the 17th overall pick in the Thursday's draft is exchanged for Vladimir Radmanovic, Nazr Mohammad, and the 12th pick in the draft.

The Bobcats would save approximately $2 million in the trade.

I like this trade if we actually use him. I don't mind the low Basketball IQ stuff. And of course any trade that has Nazr leaving a team is a good thing. Just tell me that we have a trade in place for Diop, otherwise he'll be the nicest $6.5 mil a year (my estimate) paperweight in the NBA for the next 4 years.

I'd rather just keep Mek, the 12 and our bad contracts until they become good contracts, but Bob's the boss...

Which is better, both team wise and financial wise:

Daly deal, moving Okafor for #3 or #2, resigning Felton based on getting Rubio or Harden:

Rubio/Augustin
Bell/Felton
Wallace/#17
Diaw/#17
Daly/Diop

or

Felton/Augustin
Harden/Bell
Wallace/Bell/Harden
Diaw/#17(hansbrough)
Daly/Diop

Staying where we are, taking Williams

Felton/Augustin
Bell/Williams
Wallace/Vlad
Diaw/Vlad
Okafor/Diop/Nazr

To me, I'd gladly take the deals.

I have an unjustifiable favoritism for Okafor. He's our first ever draft choice and we got him the same day I picked up the late Cat Sajak. I'd trade him to Memphis or OKC if we got their pick + Gasol or Collison, but not sure what else I'd want to move him for. Even then I'd have instant buyers remorse.

Did anyone else see LB said this on the Bobcats site and did it send a shiver down their spine as well?

(On what they want in a player)
You obviously want good character guys, and we have that. I want guys that are athletic, want to guard, and have a pretty high basketball IQ. I don’t think a center needs to have a high IQ if he can block shots and get every rebound

Oh man... why would he even say that. The question isn't about a position--just "player", but then he singles out the 5 spot. Ugh.

I know, that's what I thought. What a totally random throw away comment that just didn't really belong with what he was talking about just to slide in there.

So, is D.Brown our best candidate for that possible 26th pick from Bulls? Or are we hoping he could slide to 40th? I just hope Dalembert won't make it throught physical or whatever, we should rape Sixers in that trade with their current issues, not just make a questionable trade. Boo.

Dunno if I agree with T-Mac...doesn't he have like a $23 mil expiring contract now? I think he's a pretty valuable trading chip if so.

T-Mac becomes pretty valuable if you ask me. I'd love to trade a bunch of stuff that's not our core for him.

We don't have those.
