For fun... trading Parker?

Post#1 » by bishopospurs » Fri Jun 19, 2009 11:13 pm

This is totally a joke thread, but I am just curious to see what people would think of a deal like this. Tony Parker to the T- Wolves for Kevin Love, Corey Brewer, Brian Cardinal (expiring contract), and the 6th overall pick to be used on another young point guard like Johnny Flynn, Stephen Curry, Tyreke Evans, Brandon Jennins, Ricky Rubio, whoever is left. What do you think? :D

Right now he's our most valuable trade piece, but the way he keeps getting better year after year - and the fact that he's still only 26 - means there are probably only a handful of players in the league that I'd trade him for.

Neither Thabeet or Rubio want to go to Memphis so maybe something along the lines of Mike Conely + Marc Gasol + Marko Jaric + 2nd overall pick? Just a thought

The value of any of our big 3 is too high for ourselves because they represent our last chance for the title.

Really, if we have absolutely no shot at the title, i'd trade Parker for deals like the one above.

But with a shot at the title, trading Parker means we've given up.

Chris Bosh for Parker is interesting, I think all star bigs when more championships than all star point guards. I like george hill but not enough to replace parker. I think the spurs are a better team with parker/ginobli/duncan than ginobli/duncan/bosh. If there was a point guard available that could be a real starter and replace parker through another deal or involved in the same deal i would say yes, but just a straight up trade I don't think so. Plus I don't see the raptors doing this because they have a good starting point guard.

I don't think so on the curry situation. I would consider it for David Lee plus 8 and something else, but even that would be lopsided. The only thing curry brings is gravitational pull.... he is huge.... not in a good athletic way... more like his heart is screaming because it can't pump blood to all his extremities way...

Parker is absolutely invaluable to the team. I can only think of a few players that I would want instead of him at any position. (i.e. LeBron, Dwight, Kobe)
