Spurs trade: Oberto, Thomas, & Bowen
Bucks trade: Richard Jefferson

What a steal for San Antonio.

Wow that is a steal. I'm surprised that was all they could get for him. TP/Gino/Jefferson/TD? Ouch.

Jefferson's overrated, but it's a very good deal for the Spurs anyway. He'll replace both Finley and Bowen to a degree. He's not the defender Bowen was, but definitely better than he is, at any rate. Good thing he's learned to shoot 3's

I wonder if this makes us the front-runner for VC if we do decide to trade Theo Ratli... er T-Mac's expiring contract.

Theo who? Sorry, you didn't finish typing his last name. I always thought it was LaFrentz.

As a side note, how'd Buford manage to trade both Bowen and Thomas without some museum stepping in and protesting about how he's not properly handling his fossil shipments?

Is there anyone around better than Buford, Morey, and Pritch?
I don't buy that West is, even if he was still active.

Great trade for the Spurs, if they could sign Sheed, their lineup even moreso would be insane.

I wonder if this gives the Rockets more of a chance to snag a Bucks deal too. Landry would likely like a return home to Mil

Good deal for both teams. Bucks shed RJ's awful contract and Spurs replenished their depleted offense.

Time to work, Morey.

Oberto and Thomas are solid players. Who is their C now? And if TD goes down, it'd be an ugly site in SA. Bonner is okay but for him to go against western C's day in, day out. I'm skeptical. Maybe they have some crazy good C from overseas Idk about.

Richardson is gonna be really good for them b/c he is a great slasher. Him plus TP and Manu, I guess their strategy will be to put the other team's big men in foul trouble. We'll see if that works, in theory, it sounds good but in the playoffs when they let things go. =/

Frontcourt: Tim Duncan, Matt Bonner, Drew Gooden(?), Ian Mahinmi (?), Pops Mensah-Bonsu (?), Austin Croshere (?)

Backcourt: Tony Parker, Emanuel Ginobili, Roger Mason, Michael Finley, Jacque Vaughn (I had NO idea he was still playing!), Ime Udoka (?), George Hill

They have some options in the frontcourt available for cheap signing, and may have other options still stashed overseas like you suggested. Their backcourt can mostly shoot, too, when fouls start not getting called / getting called as irregularly and unpredictably as possible.

He is overrated for a 2nd option, but he will be clearly either a 3rd or 4th option on this team.

Spurs needed to do this. Finley is like 37 and Bowen is like 38. They had no slashing wing player. Now they have the speed at PG, the shooting at the SG and now the athletic wing at the 3 including of course still having Duncan. If the Spurs still have Gooden they will be fine. But imagine Rasheed going there now?

By overrated, I also meant for his career, as he's been almost completely out of the media spotlight since getting sent to Milwaukee. You're right though, he's a complementary offensive option, and the Spurs definitely did need to do something like this to stay competitive. How well it actually works will depend on their other signings.

You know 2 or the 3 will most likely be bought out in Mil.. Right?

Contracts are not fully guaranteed.

SO you're saying they will get Kurt or Oberto back? Makes sense.

Basically Spurs just put themselves in the same convo. as the lakers IMO. They are one piece away from really challenging the lakers, but say bynum or Gasol gets hurt. Spurs would have to be up there as favorites if they're healthy themselves. This next year will be interesting....

The Washington Wizards have acquired Minnesota Timberwolves guards Randy Foye and Mike Miller for Etan Thomas, Oleksiy Pecherov and Darius Songaila and the fifth pick in Thursday’s NBA draft, a league executive with knowledge of the deal told Yahoo! Sports.

Another good trade.

Yeah, except it also means we missed out on that. The TWolves end of that could have done us some serious good.

We never would've had a shot at it though. Wolves look to be cutting salary, and since McGrady wouldn't have matched up there without us taking on bad contracts, that'd leave S&T with Artest, which wouldn't work for their purposes, then they got the pick to boot. ... Oh well.

My guess is that they're going to trade Foye or Miller (more likely) to a contender for a future 1st-round pick.

have one warm the bench?

good pick up for the spurs, other than slashing jeffersons contract the trade mades no sense for the bucks, dont they already have a decent center from austrailia... bogus?

i dont think jefferson is overatted, but do believe is he overpaid like every other nba player.

spurs made a move to improve

what about us?
