Rubio is too much of an unknown for me. There's a lot of hype surrounding him but all I've seen are highlights. And,
if he slips to 5, that would mean that at least three other GMs have their doubts about a guy that a few weeks ago was the consensus #2 pick.
DCZards, this is an argument you use alot. 'Well if said GM(s) feels such and such about a player/team then there must be some fact to it'. Well as we've seen alot of GM's are idiots. Do you honestly trust anything the Memphis or Sacramento GM's have done recently? These guys have made bad decision after bad decision. Memphis GM Chris Wallace is one of the worst in the business. He's the same guy that traded Joe Johnson for Rodney Rogers & Tony Delk while in Boston.
Just because a guy was hired to amke key personnel decisions for a team doesn't mean he's qualified or good enough to do the job. Just as in real life, you have bosses who are totally incompetent.
In regards to Rubio, the youtube videos are one thing but the stats from the ACB league are another. In limited minutes he put up very nice numbers. And this is against better competition than any NCAA player would face. Yet at 18 yrs of age, he was leading his team to the playoffs and was the defensive player of the year! I'd agree he's not quite ready for prime time but how many 18 year olds are? He's not ready to lead grown men? Well, duh!
People complain about his frame but what kid other than LeBron has fully matured body at 18? Or what kid has fully developed his skillset by then? It's like folks criticize him like he's a finished product. Even with all his faults he accomplished so much at such a young age. I think people are magnifying his flaws and undermining his positives. Since LeBron, there hasn't been a prospect with his PG skills and b-ball IQ in the league. If he's there at #5, we have to grab him, even if he's not the best fit. The talent is too much to pass up and I'm sure EG feels the same. I think they would love to see him fall to #5.
