Kevin Love mocks it up...

Post#1 » by PeeDee » Tue Jun 23, 2009 8:47 pm

ESPN did a mock where they polled current NBA players on the teams picking in the first round. Here is who Kevin picked:

6. Timberwolves/Kevin Love select ...

Brandon Jennings, PG, Lottomatica Roma

"We need a good 3, but since DeMar and Harden are off the board, I like Brandon," says forward Kevin Love. "I admire his passing, and I've been on the good -- and bad -- end of ones that resulted in dunks. Plus, he's a lefty, which makes him unorthodox and a tough matchup."

18. Timberwolves/Kevin Love select ...

Austin Daye, F, Gonzaga

"Austin's got potential," says Kevin Love. "He's a guy you can gamble on, like Anthony Randolph in Golden State. His upside is, at 6'10", he's going to get better." The question is whether he'll get better in college or the NBA. He hasn't signed with an agent and might return to Gonzaga.

28. Timberwolves/Kevin Love select ...

Josh Heytvelt, PF/C, Gonzaga

Here's the pick that completes the KG 7-for-1 deal with the Celts in 2007. Back then, Kevin Love was finishing up high school in Oregon. "Being from the Northwest, I've seen Josh play," Love says. "He can help as an inside presence and give us depth in our frontcourt rotation."

Thank God Love doesn't have any authority. That's a brutal draft.

Not huge on Jennings, but it isn't an insane pick (would MUCH rather have Evans though). Jennings is comparable to Curry and Flynn on my board, just a bigger question mark but possibly more potential. Jennings is still slightly behind those other two, but it is more from not knowing than anything. The potential is there.

Don't hate the Daye pick either, though passing on two of those three would be crazy as I think there is great value with Holiday (especially) and Clark. Mullens and Daye are about on par right now and it depends on the team needs as to who picks them and I think at this point I may like Daye over Mullens.

I actually hate his #28 pick the most...

He went with the guys he knows. Jennings was on his AAU team, and he's from Oregon, so he's seen a few Gonzaga games in his time.

Hopefully the draft goes exactly like that, except that we ignore Love and take Evans, Clark, and anyone not named Heytvelt cause we could get him in the 2nd round.

Harden a good 3??? Stephen A Smith would rather eat Cheez Doodlez than see Harden play at SF.

Don't overestimate S.A.S.'s abilities. I would have believed that S.A.S. could do it LOUDER than that or more annoyingly than that, but not better than that.

"Dear ESPN, Quite Frankly I cannot believe you did this to me. Here I am *let me think now* here I am, one of the premiere NBA analysts, sports personalities and entertainers of our age and Im here sitting here deciding whether or not to interview Serge Ibaka, Quite Frankly, This. Is. An. Out. Rage. I should quit tomorrow. Howeva!, this is the only job I have left. In conclusion, I will stay, but I won't be happy about it.

Sincerely,
