DEALS ARE POPPIN!

Post#1 » by Bassman » Wed Jun 24, 2009 12:10 am

HURRY HURRY HURRY!! THE DEALS ARE HAPPENING NOW IN THE NBA!!

Reports:
The Washington Wizards have acquired Minnesota Timberwolves Randy Foye and Mike Miller in exchange for Etan Thomas, Oleksiy Pecherov and Darius Songaila and the fifth overall pick in Thursday’s NBA draft, a league executive with knowledge of the deal told Yahoo! Sports.

Reports:
The Bucks have flipped Fabricio Oberto to the Pistons in exchange for Amir Johnson, according to a source.

Oberto was acquired by Milwaukee from San Antonio earlier on Wednesday.

RealGM Note: The move will save Detroit in their salary cap space pursuits, as Oberto's contract is non-guaranteed.

Announced: Richard Jefferson dealt to San Antonio.

WOW! The deals are popping and I wonder if there is anything out there for the Cats? Also, how does this affect the draft? Minnesota now has the 5th and 6th picks. Wonder if they are trying to package both picks to move up to #2 and get a PG?
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Minny Is definitely taking their favorite PG with one of those picks, I don't see why they'd package them to move up, for Rubio though. I think with the other pick they probably take Hill or Harden, depending on who they like more.

Holiday/Flynn/Curry/Evans/Jennings?
Harden?/Brewer
uhh Gomes? Brewer? Carney? Smith?
Love
Jefferson

... well they weren't going anywhere with Mike Miller anyway, so why not? The draft is already less exciting without trying to decide who Kevin McHale would waste one of those picks on.

Or maybe you're right and they package their 3 first rounders for Rubio. This has Brandon Armstrong, Jason Collins, and Richard Jefferson for Eddie Griffin written all over it!

McHale lives?

Bassman--my Buddy--I'm back--In answer to your first question--Mchale has screwed up Minnesota so bad in the past maybe this time he will get luckytrade up to 2 and get the point they desperately need. Anyway I don't think anything the Wizzards.Bucks Spurs or Wolves are doing will affect or profile. I just listened to Bonnells jibber jabber. The Bobcats are stupid to trade up unless its the top 3 --after that sit and wait who's around at 12. If T Williams is there take him and then trade Bell for Azibuki.. that gives us two solid players at the two.. if T Williams is not there at 12 trade down to 17 dump Nazr and pick up veteran in Dalenbert from Philly.. then trade Bell for Azibuki. at 17 draft power forward or player who can play combination two and some point. then at 40 draft a beast to give up fouls and play 10-15 minutes of "hack the shaq" pretty easy. and I think this is the way it will play out Thursday night..

I've heard that Minnesota is gonna attempt to package 6 and 18 to get the 2 for Memphis and draft Rubio. I'd assume they'd then take Curry/Evans/Harden at 5.

Interesting take on the possibilities BB, and it's good to see you back on the board! I could see the 2nd scenario develop (Dalembert trade down, Bell for Azibuki/Belinelli/take Psycho-T at 17) with Williams gone. Having said that, I'm not convinced Williams or Henderson are Cats even if one or both are available. I do think they are the 2 most likely, with Williams the favorite, but any trade with Bell changes the mix. It will be interesting.

Makes sense that the 6 & 18 could get them #2. If I'm Memphis I'd still not do it, as there are maybe 3 to 5 players that can make a difference in this draft and pick 6 could miss those guys. My players that matter: Griffin, Harden, Evans & Hill. Throw in Curry as a maybe. The rest of the lottery will have to work their guts out to be impact starters.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Tonight, Ford said that Minny made it clear that they are going to take someone at #5 and #6. But that still leaves them #18 and #28 to do something.

Now Wednesday morning, he says they may package #5 with #18 to try and move up, but they wont package #5 and #6 to move up - that would be too much to give up.

I think Minny is hoping to get Curry and Evans and play them together to compliement each other so neither has to pick a position besides guard. It's perfect.

Ans playing with Kevin Love and Al Jefferson, that would be a nice young core for the team.

Evans will be an impact player in the league, and Curry could become a special player also. I like that tandem! The Wolves aggressive moves are certainly going to bring a new complexion to the team.

I think the Cats moves (if any) are going to be limited to a possible trade down with Chicago for the 16 & 26th spots (give up the 12 and the late 2nd), or trade up into the later 1st round with the two 2nds, or maybe a 2nd and a player.

Would you deal Ajinca and our late 2nd round pick to New Orleans for their 21st pick if you could draft either James Johnson or DeJuan Blair? Would you deal Ajinca and a 2nd rounder to Chicago for the 16th pick to get Johnson?

Yes. I think AA was a bad call. A LB flub, if you will. Maybe he can get it corrected.

Crawford to Hawks...

looks like it's for Law and Claxton. Strike the Hawks from the list of teams that are considering Felton and this is bad news for Bibby.

Crawford next to Joe Cool makes sense to me.

Good trade for the Hawks, IMO. Can't see us beating them now, considering we always let Crawford kill us.

I'm thinking we should pull the trigger on the Dalembert deal and try everything in our power to move Okafor for a chance at Harden/Rubio/Evans. Some of these scenerios I have in my head involve letting Felton walk. But I know not everyone (Walt) once to move Okafor, and I understand.

Damn! Orlando is good, Wizards and Hawks getting better, and we are stagnant. I'm sick. This draft better fall our way; we need some good luck.
