That would clear over 11 mil extra off the 2010-11 books, while adding a solid backup wing like Budinger or Young or Daye at 18.
With the payroll under 45 mil in summer 2010, even with the capholds added, there would be a great S&T opportunity out there since the Clips would have an expiring 17 mil Zach to dangle.
The only if in all of this would be that Jordan needs to be ready to be a starter after Camby expires. The Clips should have been all over that.
2010-11
This is a very poor draft overall, #18 isn't going to get a solid wing player unless someone like Earl Clark drops there. James Johnson should be available, but I'd still much prefer Thornton to him.
See underline above. Hence the word "backup". Obviously "backing up" Thornton.

No way this ever happens anymore...
The Washington Wizards have acquired Minnesota Timberwolves Randy Foye and Mike Miller in exchange for Etan Thomas, Oleksiy Pecherov and Darius Songaila and the fifth overall pick in Thursday’s NBA draft, a league executive with knowledge of the deal told Yahoo! Sports.

Yeah, not gonna happen.
Minny gathering up picks. Will be interesting.. could be possible for them to trade for Kaman or Camby with a pick? =p

ESPN says that they will just keep both picks which makes sense. It has been rumored though that they would try to acquire the 5th pick and then move the 5th and 6th picks for the 2nd pick to take Rubio.

I was thinking along the lines of the same thing. Would the Wolves now be interested in Kaman, now that they have 4 first rounders? It'll be interesting to see if they actually keep those picks...

I kind of hope the Wolves keep at least two 1st round picks since the rookies they select should take a couple of years to develop, enough time for the protection on the Minny pick to expire while they are still a lottery team.

A guy like Terrence Williams could be available at #18. And at the very least, Sam Young should be available at that spot.
I wouldn't mind adding someone like this, in a deal that nets us Miller for Kaman.
Though, i doubt that we'd use that pick on a sf then, cause Miller is still pretty solid and him and Thornton would be enough at the 3 spot. Therefore it'd probably make more sense to add something else(like a pg) at that position, if a deal like that would go down.
BTW: I don't really think that Earl Clark fits next to Gordon and Griffin. We need a guy at the sf spot(long term) that defends well and is able to hit tho open jumpshots, which are created by those two. Clark isn't that type of player as he needs the ball in his hands to be effective.
Clark is very versatile and has the length the Clippers need at SF, Williams is more of a guard and doesn't have an outside shot. Yes Young would be available but doesn't have the length the Clippers need at SF. Clark isn't a good outside shooter, but they can use Novak for that.

It's not all about length, it's about what fits next to Gordon and Griffin.
Clark, while being talented, doesn't really fits, cause he needs the ball in his hands to be effective.
The sf you need next to those two guys is someone who can defend the better perimeter scorer, doesn't needs the ball in his hands on offense, while still being able to hit the open jumpshot.
That discription just doesn't fits Earl Clark, as we're more in need of a guy in the Bruce Bowen mold at the 3 spot.
That's why i've suggested Ime Udoka sometime ago. He wouldn't be to expensive, is a vet in this league and most likely wouldn't complain about touches on offense or sharing PT with Al Thornton.

There are no SFs in this draft that can defend well and have a good outside shot. Clark is about as talented as any of the SFs on the board. Shane Battier would be ideal, but he isn't available. Tayshaun Prince would be a good option if he could be acquired for Kaman.

I think Danny Green disagrees with you.
Sam Young isn't all that bad as well and as i said, i'd rather sign a guy like Ime Udoka for that job, instead of going for someone like Clark, who doesn't really fits next to Griffin and Gordon.

Danny Green is projected at #47 overall by nbadraft.net, so he may end up in Europe rather than the NBA. He shot over 40% on 3's but was on a very good NCAA team, I doubt he would be able to do that in the NBA. Sam Young is also projected to go at the top of the second round #31 overall. These guys and Udoka might be OK on a good team, but don't have a high ceiling like Clark does.

Chris Broussard is saying Kaman is being shopped and could have a new home by tomorrow. He doesn't give any details.

LOL of course I would. Unfortunately it's only a blog and there aren't any details at all as far as where Kaman might get dealt.
I'm also told that Chris Kaman and Tyson Chandler are being shopped and could have new homes tomorrow.

Ahh, that sucks. Hopefully the fantasy trade of Kaman for Prince comes true?

The blog said Kaman and Tyson Chandler could be traded before the draft. Didn't specify if it was for each other and what not, but I wouldn't mind it if it was.
