Was - Min trade poll
What's the consensus here?
Sure hope it doesn't go Griffin/Thabeet/Harden/Rubio

I love the trade. It really cuts dead weight...and yes, I think Foye and MM were dead weight last year. It gives us a ton of flexibility to move up or stay pat and grab two young guys to rebuild our backcourt. And Thomas is a very servicable center....easily the best center we've had in a long time.

I'll wait to vote until after the draft. I would hate to vote MN is better and then on draft night watch 5/6 get traded for Thabeet. But so far I like it.

Re: Was - Min trade poll
I think Minnesota is definitely better off with this deal. I like it for you guys. Didn't vote because I don't think it helps Washington enough to make a difference for them. They add decent players, but are they a top 3 team in the East? Does anyone on that team play defense, still? No. And, with Miller expiring, and Foye as well, unless they extend him this offseason, after this upcoming season, they're right back where they started, with a very high salary, and a mediocre team. At least for them, keeping the 5th pick gave them the hopes of a young prospect on a cheap deal for a few years. Oh well.
But, like I said, I like it for you guys. Were you competing for a title, or even a playoff birth next year? No. So why keep Miller around? He's nice as an expiring contract, but you also have to figure you weren't going to move him for someone else on a similar but longer deal, because, again, it's not helping long term. So a player not really needed and Foye for #5 is pretty good, I think. Guess it all depends on hwo the draft plays out. Everyone seems to think you guys will immediately turn around and offer 5 & 6 for 2. Wouldn't 5, 18, and something still be a decent deal for Memphis, though? Move down 3 spots, and get Hill, a guy who woudl fit on their roster, and add another prospect at 18. I can't see offering up 5 & 6 for 2. Seems like too much to give up.
Of course, ultimately, as a Blazers fan, I don't like that the deal probably made you guys a better team, but, best of luck with the draft. This seems kind of similar when Pritchard was brought in to Portland, and had to start cleaning up the mess from the previous regimes, and start acquiring assets to build HIS nucleus. Hopefully Kahn can do that for you guys.

Re: Was - Min trade poll
From the Washington board
I laughed when I read this from the Washington board
"congrats everybody! we just pissed away the 5th pick!"
"Well, there goes all the suspense."
"wtf?? how do we go from Amare to Mike Miller?"
and from NY's board
"Al Jefferson, Kevin Love, #6 and #5 picks. I want to be a minnesota fan...
"
"F U C K Y O.
"
"Exactly. Kahn is killing it at the moment, he is going to turnaround that team in no time."
NY is the real losers in the trade (no offense NY)

+1, I love the path we're on, but it's not over yet. I want to see where Kahn is going with this.

Washingon fans need to realize they're in win now mode, you don't want to waste a year of Jamison and Butler. They could use a low post guy scorer though, thats for sure. But Phoenix is just playing games w/ the Amare fiasco, thats a dead end street.
I feel like they have the weapons to match up with anybody now, they're deep, they can shoot, they rebound, they just need Blatche and McGee to step up defensively to help out Haywood and they're gonna be deadly

Re: Was - Min trade poll
Personally, I think both teams "won".

President Trump told two senior Russian officials in a 2017 Oval Office meeting that he was unconcerned about Moscow’s interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election because the United States did the same in other countries

Plus Flip is probably the best coach for the players on that team. I agree with BC on this one though, ill take the wait and see approach.
Glad we are finally making some damn moves and lol at the Washington and NYK boards.

Washington definitely got better. I'm with the others though, I'll wait and see how the draft plays out before I can say that we got better too.

Re: Was - Min trade poll
If you stay neutral or support the trade, no complaining that Khan did something dumb if we find out later it was a bad move
edit: just found this on the Washington board, they have their own poll (don't vote on their own poll, that would be lame)

looks like they're mixed

Re: Was - Min trade poll
There were alot of positive posts on the wizards board from fans who know they are in win-now mode, and some overoptimistic thoughts on foye.

Re: Was - Min trade poll
All depends on who we draft. But we moved the RIGHT assets, because they were assets that had a time limit on their value because of their contracts, and because if foye didn't fit into our plans and we sat him on the pine all year his value would plummet. And because upcoming restricted free agents are risky acquisitions come trade deadline time.
We also found the right team with the NEED for our ASSETS and the CAP HELL to want to move a top 5 pick.
If we land a franchise cornerstone (or even #3 option) with this pick we will look back on this deal as highway robbery.

I picked Minnesota is worse and Washington is better,
but in the long run Minnesota will be way better but right now they aren't as good.

Re: Was - Min trade poll
I am all for the trade this is what i think Khan is looking at.
Mike Miller $9,750,000
Randy Foye $3,575,761
Total $ 13,325,761
Etan Thomas $7,350,000
Darius Songaila $4,256,000
Oleksiy Pecherov $1,547,640
Total $ 13,153,640
We can dump Thomas after next year to clear a bunch of cap space and Songaila is definitely worth that much. Pecherov doesn’t hurt our cap space at all but adds some height.
I am a rubio fan and also think we need a good center so I propose the following trades:
Trade 1: Pick #5 and #28 with Pecherov for the #2 pick from Memphis. This Gives Memphis some more height and a decent backup for Marc Gasol. We get Rubio with #2 and Memphis has the opportunity to draft 2 guys.
Trade 2: Pick #18 and #45 for Pick # 11 from New Jersey. New Jersey gets 2 picks one of which is only 7 picks away and they get another draft pick. Right now they only have 1 pick.
With those 2 trades we could draft Rubio with #2 and DeRozan or Evans with #6 and BJ Mullens with #11.
Our lineup would be:
PG: Rubio / Telfair / Brown
SG: (DeRozan or Evans) / (2nd Round Pick)
SF: Gomes / Brewer / Cardinal
PF: Love / Songalia / Smith / Williams
C: Jefferson / Mullans / Thomas
If that Doesn’t work out Draft Jennings at 5 and DeRozan or Evans with 6 and hope for Mullens at 18 or take Maynor if he isn’t available. That gives us two shots at a good pg.
Khan is making a splash and is really going to reform this team.
