Whats your worst draft day scenario??

Post#1 » by wd707 » Wed Jun 24, 2009 6:18 am

Mine would be

1) the kings trade thompson and the 4 to get rubio at 2.

or

2) the kings draft, curry, holidy, or thabeet with the number 4.

Realistically, the Kings standing pat and drafting Flynn. If we want him at 4 we should at least trade down....

The thing about wanting flynn is how far down can you trade down and still get him? You cant trade down that far. And also you cant trade down that far and still get a good package back on top of that.

Flipstorm, I like your percentage of solid posts on realgm! I would agree in saying flynn is taken at 4 would be a terrible scenario. The draft will be based good or bad off of the 4th pick, so the others don't really matter.

If we don't take him at 4, I feel that the farthest he would drop is 10. We could swap with Minny at 5 or 6 or another team in between. Milwaukee would definitely take him if he fell to 10 though.

Haha yeah, I just decided to start posting today. I have been lurking for awhile now and finally decided to start posting because this draft/offseason for the Kings really intrigues me.

How much can you possibly expect to get moving 1 spot down? I guess not much. Then I guess maybe the warriors might make a deal but is azubuike and brandon wright with the 7th pick really worth it?

Theres a LOT worse things that could happen then just taking flynn at 4

Can you imagine us trading thompson and 4 for rubio at 2??

or taking someone like curry, or thabeet at 4?

Ya, those situations would be awful, but I feel that there is no way that they happen. Petrie is really high on JT and Evans and Flynn are both above Curry and Thabeet on the Kings draft board imo.

I'm actually really afraid that THABEET will fall to us so that we have to take him and I really am not sold on him having any more value than Hibbert in a similar strength draft for big men.

Why would we take thabeet though? Why would we draft A BACK UP center at 4? Cuz he obviously wouldnt start over spencer. So I dont see why the kings would do that.

In fact I WOULD BE BLOWN AWAY AND SHOCKED if the pick at 4 ISNT A point guard.

Brandon Jennings at 4, selling off the 23rd pick, and whoevers the most unproductive or worthless player in the draft at 31. See you on thursday when this all goes down! hahaha.

I totally agree Evans is the BPA.
But, don't forget about Salmons and Martin problem. They can't play together.
Evans looks like Salmons kind of player.
The same thing happen with Thabeet. If we select him, he'll be a new Brad Miller trying to steal the Spencer's court time.
If we select Evans or Thabeet, we have to make another move to take a true PG and a nice SF.
IMO, we have to select a BPA Evans or Thabeet (if Rubio out) and try to make some move to improve our devoid positions.

Jennings at 4 would be a NIGHTMARE +2

Considering at this point I believe Petrie is going for Evans, Flynn with Curry a outside shot. I think its risky to trade down, and like wd707 say, what are we going to get out of trading down 3 spots?

However, the only leverage I believe we have is if the teams drafting ahead of us stays the same and rubio falls to us at 4. A team desperate to get him, could give us something of value to trade down.

I don't know how high minnie is on Rubio, but they might swap 4 & 5 with us to grab rubio and give us 18 in return. I'd take that for sure.
Sometimes you just have to look yourself in the mirror and say....Tyreke Evans.
That just happened.

Trading Thompson is my worst case scenerio....

I am really starting to come around to the idea of Tyreke Evans, he seems ike a D-Wade type of player.

I cannot wait until tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
