Hollinger did the adjusted stats for some notable players overseas.
for david andersen he came up with a PER of 12.86 and said that he had never heard of anybody talking about bringing him over and that the time to do so was years ago. his rebound/40 was 9.3
for josh childress he came up with a PER of 9.77 and said that he was the worst per-dollar value in the Euroleague because like brandon jennings, he struggled to adjust to the game. he said that the main reason was that his FG% went from 52.2 to 41.4

Sounds a little low for Andersen. I figured he'd be closer to ~14.
I'm surprised that Childress PER is so low, since it seemed inflated in the NBA.

sounds like the european game is alot different from the NBA. i've never heard anybody be able to really say what makes the two leagues so different.
as for andersen and childress, i don't know what to make of this if you are a hawks fan. basically your top-two assets are failing out there. and we can't even look at cenk aknol. we need to revamp our international drafting abilities.

We can't judge on this PER, even adjusted. PER is only your own production, but it doesn't talk about your defense, and how you're limiting the opponent PER.
It the same thing if you go from 15 to 10, but in the same time you limit your opponent to 8 instead of 13.
With a smaller court, and lots of zone defense, it is not surprising that they have these values.
The only interesting part is comparing some player, like Anderson, with other players who already played in NBA.
If Childress had a PER of 15 in NBA, and gets 10 in Euroleague, it says more thing about what PER could get Andersen, than comparing the PER of Andersen with a current NBA player who never played in Euroleague, even if Andersen would have to adjust.
It's not right since you have to look at the situation too, if you're the 2nd offensive option in the two teams (NBA and Euroleague),... but it looks stupid to think that a guy with a 12 PER in Euroleague would get that in NBA.

I'm not surprised that Childress scored so low. I credit his slow release and shot selection with lowering his FG%. The way he was used by Woodson maximized his strengths (often to the detriment of teammates in my opinion) allowing him to post opposing guards for rebounding position. As a greater focus of the team as well as playing F full time negates some of those advantages. Also, don't discount the target I'm sure Childress wears as Mr. Highest Paid. I bet he gets A-game defense intensity all the time because of that.
