Bird wants a Chris Paul

Post#1 » by greenway84 » Wed Jun 24, 2009 2:13 pm

Now I'm not saying to go after Chris or that there is a Chris Paul in the draft. I was however watching some interviews of Jeff Teague, and he mentions in a lot how he wants to be like Chris. I guess them 2 practice when Chris comes back to town (referring to Wake Forest). I don't know if I'm reading into this, but maybe he sees some Chris Paul potential in Teague. I'm not saying I want to draft him, but who knows with this draft.

I wouldn't be upset if we drafted Teague. I have a short list of 7 players that I wouldn't be mad about drafting 13th

Jennings
Lawson
Hansbrough
Blair
Maynor
Teague
Clark

First, who doesn't want a Chris Paul? I hope Bird also wants a Dwight Howard and a LeBron James. Anywho, Teague is not very Paul-like. Lawson is probably the most similar in this draft.

You have to react to that in the context it was presented in. He was being asked about point guards in the draft and going over their various skills and talents, when a reporter asked him which he preferred. To avoid giving a direct answer and tipping his hand, he said "Chris Paul". Read nothing further into it than that.
