Anyone think a bigger deal is coming?

Post#1 » by I_Love_This_Game!! » Wed Jun 24, 2009 2:54 pm

With the announcement of the Wizards trade, most people on this board are asking who the Wolves will take with picks #5 & 6. I'm not sure that this trade was made with the intent of acquiring another young and promising player. Rather, I believe Kahn is planning to package a few of his picks, together with some expiring contracts to obtain a superstar. Anyone else think this might be possible? If so, who do you think they are targeting????

Its possible, I do think another trade is coming that will get rid of some of our 4/5 guys. We can't start the season with 7 of them on our team+Pekovic next year.

I believe they are going after Thabeet based on what Kahn has said to the season ticket holders and Rev's comments.

I think the 6 + 18 + 28 might be the best offer the Grizzlies receive for the 2. And I do believe that the Grizzlies are trading their pick based on their lack of direction given they are basically on the clock at # 2 since the Clippers are taking Griffin.

A front court rotation of Jefferson, Love and Thabeet would be as good as any in the league.

I'd rather do Kevin Love + #5 for #2...

See, you're basing your trade off BS rumors and so am I...

Chris Wallace sent me an e-mail stating they'll chose whoever they want, regardless of the player and players agent's desire to play in Memphis, and I trust him.

I'd like to see this:

Min outgoing: #5, #6, #18, Cardinal, Madsen
Min incoming: Gay, Darko, #2

Mem outgoing: Gay, #2, Buckner
Mem incoming: Amare, #18

Phx outgoing: Amare
Phx incoming: #5, #6, Cardinal, Madsen, Buckner

Big Gay Love, people. Big Gay Love.

Hopefully, you concocted this trade just to play with the names? :-)

I am not homophobic, but I do not want any sort of Gay on the wolves. We are giving up 5 assets for the pleasure of signing Gay to a max deal(or just short of one).

Another trade involving the Wolves is pretty much certain, but anything involving Love and a lottery pick going for #2 is just plain stupid.

Love's value is equal to #2. Thabeet and Rubio haven't exactly helped their value with the crap they've pulled thus far.

Love aint going nowhere

We either package #5 + #18 and take back a bad contract to move up

Or we sit tight and take two of Evans, Rubio, Harden, Curry at #5 + #6

I'm really warming to the idea of Love + #5 for Green + #3.

We take Rubio at 3 (after MEM takes Thabeet) and DeRozan at 6.

Rubio/DeRozan/Green/Jefferson is a nice young core

If we're talking Love+6, and we can get Rubio, Harden, and Green at the end of the day, I could live with that.

if we trade up for Thabeet over Rubio im gonna be pretty mad. it would make zero sense with how depleted our backcourt is right now

How's this for wild speculation with no factual base if we did target Thabeet with #2 and didn't get a PG at 5/6:

#5 or #6, Songalia, and Pekovic for #2 and Buckner.
We take Thabeet with #2, Harden or Evans with #5 or #6.
Then trade Buckner, Madsen, Telfair, and Utah pick for Hinrich.
#18 draft Maynor
#28 draft Thorton, Ellington, or Euro to stash.

C-Thabeet, Al, Oli
PF-Al, Love, Etan, Smith
SF-Gomes, Brewer, Cardinal
SG-Evans/Harden, Thorton
PG-Hinrich, Maynor, My Perogative

Im calling Rev's bluff. Im certain he knows something, but I think all the Thabeet talk and the "we arent getting a young stud PG" stuff is BS. He knew we were after Rubio and couldnt contain his excitement so he bailed.

At least i hope thats what happened....

Not only was it not going to be a young PG, there was supposed to be a gapping hole at PG. I think Rev might misguide us a little so draft night remains exciting but I doubt he would tell the complete opposite of what he heard.
Is he coming back the day of the draft or after the draft?

He may have heard what they wanted to do or their "plan A" but it takes two (or more) teams to make a trade. They may be on plan C or D by now. Or rev may be 100% on track. Who knows.
