Suns making plans for season without GHill

Post#1 » by Rocky5000 » Wed Jun 24, 2009 4:19 pm

From Joe Johnson to Tim Thomas to James Jones to Shawn Marion, the Suns gradually have lost some of the length and defense that compensated for a fast, offense-oriented system's shortcomings.

Length, defense and more will be available Thursday. The Suns' 14th pick in the NBA draft will come with choices at wing that other positions won't offer. Barring a tumble from a touted point guard, the Suns' "best player available" approach could mean choosing among a wide range of swingmen.

"We're trying to cover the possibility that Grant Hill doesn't return," Suns Senior Vice President of Basketball Operations David Griffin said of the 36-year-old free agent. "Based on Grant's age, it's significant to look at the future."

Hopefully Hill doesn't retire and instead signs on in Boston. 8-)

Grant Hill would be a very nice backup 3 to Pierce. He's exactly the type of veteran presence we should be looking at to add depth to our bench. As long as it's reasonable money, I'm all for it.

I'd like to get someone in there with more athleticism and youth. I don't think he would be be such a great backup.. I think sometimes older guys have trouble getting going off the bench.

Could Hill start along side Pierce if a trade was made where say Ray and Rondo were sent out for a big man and Bibby or Kidd was signed with the MLE and we only had the LLE to get a SG/SF?

I'd like Grant here. He also can run the offense and handle the ball allowing E House to shoot his brains out.

He'll be a Celtic. All Danny has to do is ask.

Return to Boston Celtics
