Andy Katz just reported that Memphis is picking Thabeet with the 2nd pick.

it's obviously either harden or rubio if thabeet is off the board. harden seems like the safe pick. rubio would be swinging for the fences and would make for an interesting backcourt but could really backfire.

I'd read that from a couple of different sources. That definitely kills a lot of the suspense that saw Memphis potentially mixing things up. If Thabeet goes #2, you've GOT to figure Harden or Rubio will be sharing the backcourt with Russ next year.

I say Harden.

i'd want to see a rubio/westbrook backcourt just for the novelty of it. these guys are like opposite ends of the spectrum, who knows maybe they could really complement each other.

harden's probably the pick but rubio would be such an interesting selection. i almost want it to happen just for that reason.

That's pretty much how I'm feeling too. Also, my lack of knowledge with Rubio probably makes me favor Harden a bit.

And I think Westbrook's game gets exposed as a 2. I think harden has the ability to spread the defense, guard 2 guards, and be a facilitator on offense for Durant/Green and Westbrook.

I think a Westbrook/Harden backcourt trumps a backcourt of Rubio/Westbrook. Even if Rubio is the 'better' prospect (like anyone can even know that, Napolean), The whole of the RW/JH combo is greater than the parts of the RR/RW combo.

Just my $.02 worth

You hit the nail on the head.
