Re: Danny on WEEI now........
Danny dissing Rondo on WEEI is just confusing the absolute **** out of me. I can't ever remember him calling a player out or anyone out like that.
Yes he could be doing it because of contract stuff, but that's just gonna push a kid like Rondo the wrong way. Piss him off even more so he's more disruptive. Not good.
Then he more or less ruins a player's value by making comments like that as well. You make other teams and their fans think there getting damaged goods.
Danny must not be himself or Rondo has REALLY got under his skin.

If he wants to call out his players, why not call out KG for acting like an ass on the bench, PP for playing at half speed for most of the playoffs and for being taken to school by the likes of John Salmons, and Ray Allen for flat out disappearing duiring several palyoff games?
Alright lets give it a rest. Danny is the one had Rondo in his gun sights when everyone else was whacking off to Marcus Williams. He is selling high and that is what a GM is supposed to do.
Most of the "he has an attitude and he shows up late" stuff didn't matter to me at all. I thought of that as reporters trying to search for a reason why he was available in trade talks.
The one thing I heard today that was a little bit of head turner was that Rondo failed to execute the game plan against ORL. That Doc wanted him to push the ball and take it to the rim and either he couldn't or he wouldn't, he hesitated.
It doesn't mean he has to go, that he can't be the pg for this team anymore. But it just means he isn't as good as perhaps the perception of him is and if that can either return more talent than he is worth or is going to cost more than he is worth to keep him then you explore your options.

Re: Danny on WEEI now........
Ainge probably did it to keep interest in the team when they only have the 58th pick, which means mission accomplished. Ainge is not a moron. He is very aware of how the power of the internet works. His goal, after making the team better, is to keep the interest level up at all times if possible. Very hard to do with only a very late 2nd round pick. Not suggesting he "wouldn't" make a trade, but in all likely hood, he is playing everyone like a fiddle and doing a damn good job. Nothing will happen tomorrow, with the exception of a few more bogus rumors.

Two reasons why a deal like this could be agreed upon and not announced, is that Wallace and Ainge agree and when Wallace took it Heisley he decided to put in the wind and find out if everyone in the world thought they were idiots.
The other is that Memphis is trying to dea; the 2 pick to teams that want Rubio, if they trade for Rondo it lessens their hand.
Good point about keeping quiet to keep the #2's value at it's highest.

I don't think most GM's think that way, everyone tends to think their smarter than everyone else.
Ainge used to kill Pierce all the time in essentially the same way. Talking about how he he needed to mature, trust his teamates, and he wasn't a real leader.
As far as trade value, if he was out there telling everyone how Rondo was a max contract guy and a top 5 pg and was a cornerstone type player and then called and offered you him in a deal would you believe him?
They may be stupid but they don't think they are stupid you can't insult them.
Ainge is talking too much and saying nothing is going on when it is obvious it is, if he just wanted to kick up interest he would be saying he is trying to get into the first round, not deal his young star pg.
When the trade rumor comes up in the other teams citles media chances are there is something there. Unless it is Sam Smith in CHI or Vescey in NY.

Again, what am I missing here? I listened to the exact same interview and am not getting anything close to a trade. Where is all this coming from?

For me, Ainge did a presser yesterday and downplayed everything and how all these trade rumors are a joke, I like the kids from last year better than the guys in the draft, blah blah.
Guy has the 58th pick in the draft end of story.
Then this morning comes on the radio with D&C, not his regular show, to tell us that nothing has changed except it has. The only reason he comes on again is he knows the Rondo/Memphis thing is out there, why does he know that? He starts to show the cracks in the armor, that well Rondo was fined, he isn't this and he isn't that but we love him.
I should probably listen to this again before I say he said this but I am pretty damn sure he said "I don't want to trade him." Those were the exact words that he used when he talked about dealing Al for KG, just before he did it.
I am most likely reading way too much into this but there was a clear change in tone from yesterday, playing off DET trade rumors from the weekend, to today's Memphis rumor. Maybe it isn't the Memphis deal but I think that something changed, the offers got better and he felt like he had to change scenario.

Re: Danny on WEEI now........
only thing that makes sense to me if we were to trade him is rondo, scal, gidd for conley and gay.
then sign either a miller (i like most) or iverson (danny seems to always had a hard on for him) for mle
then use lle on center or tall pf like dice, birdman, joe smith
so
Miller/iverson, conley, house
Allen, gay, house
Pierce, gay
KG, Baby
Perk, dice/birdman/smith
it might hurt us in future if rondo > conley but gay is replacement for allen and we get even more veteran help for this years team.

Re: Danny on WEEI now........
Man, well Sully, you could be right but all I'm getting out of it is a GM who likes his PG and who, like other GMs, is going on the radio daily during the last 3 days before the draft. I just don't see him trading Rondo away. If he does I'll be the first to admit I was being too gullible but I just don't see it.

Re: Danny on WEEI now........
Conley put up 15/4/6 over the last 3 months of the season he was the 4 pick in the draft. I mean I got mocked for saying Rondo was his equal when he was coming out of school I don't understand how Rondo is now light years or Rudy Gay ahead of him because of his zipcode.
I have to be honest there is no way Memphis is willing to make this trade it is crazy.

I never believed it either until it somehow made it into the media that we could get Conley Jr. and Rudy Gay for him. I am making that trade.

No news from the NBA draft special. Andy Katz reported the last couple draft day deals, too, but not even a mention of rondo rumors tonight.

I'm not a real big fan of yours sully, but I have to think your right here. People are saying that were holding out for the #2. Maybe, but that's not gonna happen. Gay/Conley for Rondo, and basically Scal is so weighed on our side it's crazy. If you're Boston you take that everyday of the week. The only thing I can think of of why this hasn't gone down (if it's true) is that Ray's getting moved and Danny's doesn't want to make the Memphis deal final until the Ray trade is finalized.
Or we just aren't gonna do anything. Ainge's interview seemed really wierd and out of the blue though so something has to be going on.
Something better go on because I'm gonna watch the whole god damn draft!!
