Report: Shaquille O

Post#1 » by Mr. Sun » Thu Jun 25, 2009 3:21 am

The Shaq-to-Cleveland trade talks have gained momentum and Cavaliers officials are nearing the conclusion they should make the move for O’Neal, sources said. Now, they have to find the package that’ll work with Phoenix.

One league executive says there’s an “inevitability” to the talks and that, “It’s going to get done.”

I'm all for trading Shaq but COME ON...this is the BEST we can possibly do? The guy was All NBA and even at 37 sells more jerseys than 90% of the players still playing...AND he's expiring...

At least ask for DWest, Hickson or Varejao

Expand it to include Richardson and try get Varejao AND West back

Shaq/Z
FA - Sheed?
LeBron
JRich
Mo

DOOOOOO IT...

Not to troll or anything, but the Cavs wouldn't even consider sending one of those three guys, especially not for J-Rich.

I will be seriously disappointed if Shaq is traded to the Cavs simply for wallace/sasha. We have to get something else in return. If not, keep him.

How much would such a trade shave from the cap for 2009? If it allows us to pick up a FA (or buy a pick) it might not be all that bad of a deal.

I wouldn't be as upset if it led to us picking up Ariza or someone like that for cheap, and a pick would be nice. Anyone think Kerr is stupid enough to involve our 14th to get another player?

It would shave 5,250,000 for you guys in cap room, and then anything saved from a potential Ben Wallace buyout would just add onto that.

Hopefully Kerr understands he actually has the upperhand in this deal, the Cavs are under extreme pressure to do something big, and most cav fans are expecting to have Shaq in Clev next year. So I would hope that kerr will hold out to get a third team involved and someone like Chandler in this deal as well, or dwest, hickson or verajao included in the cavs deal.

We'll get their 1st rder, but still not a good deal. It better include a 3rd team.

In a more optimistic view:

"Now, they have to find the package that’ll work with Phoenix."

Hopefully this signifies that we are looking for more than just Wallace and Pavlovic

Hey fellas. An extremely legit source who posts on RealCavsFans.com has just confirmed that this deal is done. He is a scout within the organization and is extremely credible and has leaked tons of info early. Here's what he had to say:

OK guys. The first shoe is getting ready to drop. It's looking like we are getting very very close to just moving forward with what we're going to have to do before we can proceed on with the rest of the moves we need to make to compliment the team accordingly after this first move gets done.

That move is going to be the Cavaliers bringing to Cleveland "The Deisel". Shaq looks like he's just about signed ,sealed and delivered.

Can't see much at this point that could stand in the way of it happening.

This, of course, alters what we need to do in complimenting Lebron and the rest of the team for the coming season.

We now need to structure our frontcourt with the right people to make this mix work effectively.

That's part of the equation that is taking shape as we prepare to pull this trigger.

It's gotta happen before the draft, so that we can effectively position ourselves in the draft, by making the moves necassary to get what we are looking to get in this draft.

Again. Multiple options exist off every move we make. For every move that we make, in this instance, the addition of Shaq, will then open a number of opportunity doors that we need to then evaluate, and select the best course of action after that.

But, it's legit, and the final touches are getting worked out right now, is what I'm understanding.

Been confirmed (without exact details) by a couple guys now. You can find the quote for one on the Cavs board. Here's the other: http://twitter.com/pdcavsinsider

Cleveland will send Ben Wallace(notes), Sasha Pavlovic(notes), the 46th pick in Thursday’s draft and cash to the Suns for O’Neal.

THATS IT?

Suns fail again.
