To save money.

Yue's option will not be exercised most likely which is fine I could really care less. No really I could the guy has mediocre skills.

Im not so sure about that if you watched the exit interview press conference Yue said the Mitch and Phil told him they wanted him to to play for the Lakers summer team and they wanted him to put on some weight and work on his shooting. Now they could be trying to be nice to him before they cut him loose but why would they tell him they wanted to play on their summer team.

The lakers will likely go with the minimum amount of players during next season. To save money. AS long as hopefully all 3 come back next season, then they'll have to save money in other places in every way.

If the Lakers want to pull a Suns move and sell their 1st round pick to save money, I'm all for it as long as they do their best to resign Ariza, Odom and Brown. Even though Farmar is frustrating, I hope we wouldn't trade him just for the sake to dump salary. Fisher is another year older and we have no depth at PG. There has got to be some takers our there for Morrison Expiring + 29th pick.

Another option is getting a player overseas that stays overseas for a year for $0.00.

I drool watching these drafts as all this blue chip talent goes everywhere but to our LAL. Durant, Westbrook, Thabeet, Griffin, Gordon, Mayo, damn I want a blue chip!

I do not like trading the pick. We did not have a pick last year and we will not have a pick next year. If we trade this first rounder, we will go 3 years without a #1. Yes it is expensive to have these players on the bench. But these players might be the future to build on. Plus what fun is it to watch the draft and get nothing out of it, second round picks will be sents over seas or to the d league and forgot.

So do we but every other franchise in the League (save maybe SA) would envy only having 1 (low) lottery pick in 20 years with mutliple rings. Heck Bynum proved to be quite an exciting up and comer, especially pre-injury in 07-08.

If Calathes is off the board, I don't have a problem with trading the pick in favor of our second round picks. By the way I think Jack McClinton can be our "Lil Fish". He'd make a good 2nd round pick IMO.

I think the rule is that consecutive "future" first rounders cannot be traded in advance of the draft so it will probably be traded during the draft - thus it is not a "future" pick anymore.

It seems we have sold the pick to the Knicks for $3m.
