Time for a vote. What will happen?

Just thought I would throw this out there to get your opinions on what is going to go down. 3 basic choices.

I voted for Boston standing pat but I have a hard time believing Ainge can sit through the whole draft and not do anything. He will probably buy a 2nd rounder like they did with Bill Walker, maybe not.

Rondo or Ray are not getting traded.

Boston buys a first round pick.

Question: Teams can exceed the cap to sign their first round draft picks. Does that include picks that are bought?

Where is the Boston trades Ray Ray option?

I think Rondo is staying, seems like the safest option.

Rondo and Ray stay. I think the C's want to make a move but can't get what they want at this moment....so they stay.

ps......Rondo and Duffy think he is a max player Danny and Wyc do not and neither side will bend. This is where the problem stems....someone has to give and it won't be the C's.

We'll stand pat. Honestly, we don't have a lot of chips of interest to trade to anyone other than our starting 5...
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

Rondo to Memphis deal goes down, Danny makes deal with Wolves--- Conley + future considerations for filler and Tyreke Evans.

Well, that's what I would like to happen, anyway.

I think Rondo is gone to Memphis as well. Either for Conley and the #2 or Conley and Gay. If for some reason that doesn't happen, I see Danny buying into the low 20's and drafting Sam Young.

No way would I trade Rondo for Conley and the 2nd pick. I'll burn the city. Ok, I can't burn the city because I'm over 600 miles away but I'd be pissed. Conley & Gay I can live with. Gay & the 2nd pick still ok. But not Conley and 2nd pick.

No big trade. I think we'll buy a 1st round pick. Ainge's draft boards are always a little unique, I bet there'll be some guy in the late 1st who Ainge later says he would have considered as a top lotto pick. Maybe, like, Lawson?

If Danny manages to turn Rondo+ into Gay and Evans, then picks up Miller/Iverson and Wallace/McDyess with the exceptions, I will be ecstatic. Gay can back up Pierce and Allen right now, and Evans is also a guy who is NBA ready. Add title-hungry vet PG and PF/C and we're good to go for next year, with a strong core to build from for the future.

Up until now, Danny's drafts/offseasons has always turned out more exciting than my gut feeling. At the same time, I don't know if he's ever made the statement similar to the draft party likely not to be fun to Celtics fans. So my expectations for draft day Celtics activity are pretty low. I do expect the acquisition of a better second round and/or bottom half first round pick, perhaps using Pruitt or Giddens. Ainge did mention that they looked at a hundred players, and I doubt it's just for crappy pick we have right now.

Yeah, but I wonder if that stuff hits the fan on draft day, or afterwards.. ;)

My sense its nothing will happen... but then I've sensed that before right before Danny Ainge made other draft day deals. The difference this time around is (I know some feel otherwise) this is a very weak draft except for a few of the guys rated in the top 5 or 6.

The price of those top picks as stand-alone trading chips is going to be high- certainly higher than the Celtics would spend. Plus there are so very few guys that would help the Celtics win immediately and that is the team's #1 priority.

Getting a late first rounder seems foolish as it just locks you into a salary for a longshot prospect unlikely to be even as good as Walker, Pruitt, and Giddens.

Adding it all up- The Celtics will definitely look to make a splash with free agency on July 1. They will draft at #58 for a guy unlikely to make the team. Kinda boring.

But I'll be watching, because you never ever know...

I think nothing happens. I don't think Rondo is getting traded. Don't think we are buying a pick in the first round - it cost NY 3M to buy the 29th pick. We might trade for a higher 2nd round pick if someone we like falls like we did with Bill Walker - maybe with cash or future 2nd rounder. But I think with Pruitt/Giddens/Walker taking up roster spots, we'll probably concentrate on free agency. There's a chance that maybe we might see what the expiring deals of Scal/TA + Pruitt's unguaranteed contract can get us, but that's probably going to be more valuable at the trade deadline.

When I started the poll I voted for trade rondo. Too bad I can't switch because right now I think nothing will happen at all. Not even a move up.

What's with the random stop in rumors?
