Ok now that Shaq is here...
We need to sign a Power Foward...Preferably CV who I have been screaming for since 1995...(just kidding, but it has been a while). Anyway does anyone think, if we do sign CV, can we conjure up a trade with the likes of a sign and trade with Wally (a one year big contract for expring reasons), throw in JJ (because at this point he is a project and with AV, CV, Z and Shaq here and Darnell getting more time, JJ wont see the court) and our first round pick, can we trade for a quality SG, someone like Maggette who GS wants rid of? Or maybe not him but someone...Plus we can try to buy up in the draft get an earlier pick...
Mo/Boobie
West/Magette?(or someone good)/Draft Pick...
Lebron
CV/AV/DJ
Z/Shaq
any ideas?

I like Mcdysee but CV is a way better fit IMO. Now if that gets done do you think we could throw in another trade to get a solid back-up 2 guard with length? And I would LOVE to buy up in the late teens of the draft and select Jennings who's stock is falling because he went to Italy instead of college...He would be amazing and a steal...Bombay I respect your opinion and think you are right a lot of the time....what do you think?

Re: Ok now that Shaq is here...
IMO, CV is the pick too with his youth combined with his scoring ability and athleticism.
Getting CV would complement Shaq and keep in line with helping make the Front Court younger for the CAVs. Heck, if the CAVs can make Gooden into a decent defender...they can do the same with CV.

Agreed. Now with that being said how would you guys feel with trading the 30th pick and JJ for Marco Bellinelli. If I remember GS wanted JJ at the dead line and lets face it Bellinelli got lost in the mix of SG's there. So we grab him for his length and shooting. JJ is gonna get lost in the mix with Shaq maybe Cv here and Darnell playing great ball at the end of the season. And still I advocate buying an earlier draft pick!!!

Shaq starts, btw.
Want CV to come here, but I can understand bringing Sheed in instead. We sort of threw our chips in for next year, and I think Sheed will do better against our top competition for one year. I like that CV seems excited and likes the possibility of coming to Cleveland, though. I'm always looking for guys who want to play with our team, not just go here for the money.
I'm just looking at taking it one day at a time, and since this is draft day, let's focus on who we pick up here and go from there.

Get CV and we have a better chance at Bosh because Toronto will only S&T him and CV would be a perfect start. But CV may work out better because his production per 40 is right under Bosh and Amare, he's the same age and he will cost half as much so we can use the rest of the cap on a Big or SG or bigtime trade if we keep him in 2010. Thats a win-win to me.

Re: Ok now that Shaq is here...
CV? You guys need people that can play defense, all I see is offense.
Congrats on Shaq, 38, but hey it's better than what you had, this is his last year on a 20M a year contract I believe.
It's going to give LBJ even more easy assists, but it's going to hurt his penetration from a wide open lane to a house in the middle.
Bosh this year bitched after a game that Shaq gets away with murder in the key spending well over 3 seconds in the key. 3 seconds won't be called on Diesel congrats on that as well.
Shaq's played with Penny, Kobe, Wade, Nash, now LBJ, damn pretty nice for the big fella.
Bosh?, CV?, Ben Gordon? Correct me if I'm wrong but as far as I know Shaq's getting 20M in 09/10 his final year of his contract, Shaq was your big offseason get. You'd have to lose money and pay out the a$$ luxury taxes to get anything else of note at this point. CLE is not going to do that, not even deep pockets Paul Allen wants to touch the luxury tax. It's like throwing money away, making your P&L look worse and worse.
However if you do have cap room left, don't fret we'll GIVE YOU great pieces
:Sasha Vujasuck, Jordan Farfromdominant, Adam Cry Me A River Morrison. They all make about 5M per.

Re: Ok now that Shaq is here...
Anyway we can move up and grab Earl Clark but also have a late or early 2nd a possibly steal Chase Budinger?
Lakers are selling, Minnesota has extra, and NO is likely going to sell and Detroit was rumored earlier to be willing to move down for 2 late 1st or 1st and 2nd. Plus 32 overall for sale also.

thats what ive heard is that he is slipping...i like jennings game because he is quick but he needs to add some more muscle and limit the turnovers - those could have been because he was adjusting to a whole different culture over there
if hes still around in the late teens, id love for the cavs to make a move for him...i also wouldnt mind sam young, ty lawson or earl clark (we'd probably have to try trade into the 10-13 range)

Re: Ok now that Shaq is here...
Now that we have Shaq I would probably shy away from CV unless the Cavs can get him on the cheap with the MLE. We need a PF that can play rock solid defense and hit an occasional jumpshot to keep the opposing defense honest. I think CV is a fit offensively but not defensively with Shaq. Andy will be a great fit defensively so I think he will be kept but he is not a threat to hit a jumpshot on offense.
Bottomline next year is the year for the Cavs. They will be under the microscope and will be the favorites to win it all. Ferry needs to find a PF that we can win with next season. Sheed or Dyess might be better options especially if Ferry can get them to sign 1 year contracts (or 2 year with the 2nd year as a team option or partially guaranteed). That would provide the Cavs with more cap flexibility in 2010 to resign LeBron and possibly find him a long term teammate from that deep FA class. After watching the Pistons the past few years, and especially in the playoffs this past season, I'm not sure how much Sheed has left in the tank physically not to mention does he have the desire to play anymore. He would've been a great fit 3 years ago but McDyess is the better player at this stage. I wonder if McDyess would accept a one year contract to win a ring? He turned the Cavs last season and lost a great deal of guaranteed money in the process of the buyout from Denver.
As far as the draft I hope the Cavs can move up and find a player that can contribute right away. A perimeter defender or backup PG are definite needs. That 2nd rounder looks like it could be a Euro prospect that will be stashed overseas.

Now that the Cavs have Shaq, I think they should make this trade too:
Cleveland trades / OKC receives:
Zydrunas Ilgauskas
OKC trades / Cleveland receives:
Nick Collison
Earl Watson
Then, I would seek to acquire Jason Kidd this offseason via free agency with their MLE.
Cleveland's new lineup:
PG...Kidd...Watson
SG...Williams...West...Gibson
SF...James...[Draft Pick]
PF...Collison...Hickson
C...O'Neil...Varejao
What do you think?

CV is the best shot at Bosh Cavs have. Then comes Amare who could walk away but we can then work another S&T that Suns would go for before letting Amare walk. Wade I dont think we have a shot at getting. And then I would look to Joe Johnson but I dont know about him leaving ATl. I think guys want a S&T to get max dollars before they want to walk away and make a lil less.

so lets get this right...
Mo/Gibson
West/Kinsey(probably not)
LeBron/Sczerbiak(maybe?)
Varejao/Smith(maybe?) or CV(hopefully)
Shaq/Ilgauskas
im fine with the fact that JJ can develop into a quality PF but what other moves will we make and what will our lineup actually be?
i wanna see your guys opinions
