Hollinger on Lorbek

Post#1 » by granger05 » Thu Jun 25, 2009 6:39 pm

John Hollinger put out his draft rater a week or so ago, but he also did another column looking at stats from the Euroleague. I hadn't paid much attention to it, but I finally looked today. In addition to discussing the draft-eligible Euroleaguers, he also looked at players whose rights were already held. Erazem Lorbek turned up.

INSIDER LINK

Erazem Lorbek (Pacers) has put together reasonably good seasons before, but this one was his best to date by far. He plays the NBA's least scarce position, power forward, so there may not be as much urgency to bring him over. But looking at his track record of the past few years, he's clearly an NBA player, and possibly a pretty good one.

That article was a good read, thanks for the link. I wonder when we will try and bring Lorbek over. It seems like now would be a decent time (I don't know what the story is with his buyout though), since we have holes in the frontcourt and he would be a fairly cheap option for us.

Yeah, I read that article when it first came out, and the Lorbek sighting really raised my eyebrows. Bring him in!

The Pacers should go all Aztec with this. The Aztecs used to have some sort of ceremonial ball game in the central plaza, with the winners lauded and the losers immediately sacrificed to the gods.

The Pacers could do the same thing with a one-on-one game to 21 between Lorbek and McRoberts. Winner gets to be the backup power forward; loser gets his heart cut out with an obsidian knife blade.

That might be about what it takes to get the Pacers back on CBS, ESPN, or TNT again.

Whoa, whoa, whoa... I think there is probably room on the roster for both of them.

Brutal concept, but hilarious none the less.

Why not. After this draft I'll need a good amount of entertainment.

I heard early yesterday that Lorbek needed another year to work out of his Euro contract - perhaps that was on Bruno's blog - but I was hearing at the draft party that there was a good chance of him coming this year. we'll see.
