Rodriguez will be a King

Post#1 » by brassviews » Thu Jun 25, 2009 10:54 pm

We're hearing that Sacramento and Portland are closing in on a deal that would send Sergio Rodriguez and the #38 pick to Sacramento for #31.

You guys will be getting a Spanish point guard, just not Rubio. Hey, maybe Rodriguez will be a better player than him.

why...

i mean Sergio is a nice little PG but the only reason i think this deal would happen is if the kings drafted Rubio. A little confusing to me right now.

Yep I think the kings do it as a way to make rubio comfortable with a SPANISH GUY. OTher wise whats the point of having rodriguez there if were paying beno a lot and there basically the same talent??

Getting Ser-Rod for #31...I don't see a problem with that.
This space needs to be filled with a new sig...but I'm too lazy to make one.

I think this is to help Ricky mesh faster.

Wow, I actually think this is pretty good value for #31. We also get the 38 so we can still probably get Derrick Brown there. This also to me means that the Blazers are going to go after Hedo HARDCORE. I think they land him in another week or so. Cuts into our capspace but I'm hoping we lay low and just re-sign Ike.

It's being reported as agreed to here in Portland, so Sergio and #38 going to Kings, the 31st pick and cash going to Portland.

Just spoke to Sergio Rodriguez's agent, Bob Myers. He says he was informed that the trade is done. Portland will likely target Victor Claver at 31, although there is some thought that they could be tempted to take him at 22.

I think that's very good value for the 31st pick. Beno is toast and we don't have any other pg's on the roster. Sergio gives us some experience -- maybe a bridge while Rubio or Evans or Holiday grows and devlops (or Calathes is picked up, hmmm).
