I would have preferred swapping the pick for Rudy than what we got, but my guess if Minny would make that deal if its on the table (and it doesnt seem to be).

The fact that Harden and Evans were off the board actually makes me think that EG did the right thing trading the pick as opposed to the wrong one. You can't take RUbio and just hope to trade him when you have the needs that the Wiz have/had.

Fish, the Wizards could have drafted Rubio and still did the trade with Minn if there were no better offers. The Wizards basically narrowed their options by doing the deal early.

I agree with this, although now from rumors I'm hearing, the Wolves drafted Rubio strictly as trade bait.

Makes sense. Why would you draft two point guards? We could have waited but I think the trade was a decent one as it stands.

By the time Minnesota gets through trading away Rubio and others the Wizards will look dumb to all but the folks here that just don't get it.

Minnesota will get VALUE for the pick.
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

Sure they could have, but realistically, how many of us actually thought Rubio would fall to no. 5?

To me the risk far outweighed the potential benefits and I'd rather add two NBA ready vets than sit there with my thumb up my butt trying to field reasonable offers for the likes of Thabeet, DeRozan, Jennings, Hill and Harden.

There's no way Washington would have netted Miller and Foye for any of those guys.

Tyler Hansbrough and Troy Murphy. Brilliant. Two slow white power forwards and Murphy is coming off a career year.

Gotta love how Holiday is now falling after he refused to work out for us.

Oh God. What a nightmare. Didn't really like the trade, though I accepted that was the best they could do in terms of trades. Its just a horrible nightmare. I know his agent didnt want him going there. So what, Arena's may already be done, what the hell do we know, why the hell not take a flyer on the next potential Pistol Pete. Maybe he's a bust but this team aint winning jack, as constructed. It's a non-entity in the playoffs, and it will continue to be. They needed to tear this crap up, and rebuild it as best as they could, they had some pieces, and they could have added potentially the next pistol pete/Jason kidd (if he lives up to and maximizes the potential). Instead we added some mediocre guards. Hurrah for a team going nowhere. Maybe things will change with Leonsis.

I've hated on Gil a lot over the last couple years, but I have this feeling that he is going to be an absolute beast this season.

The next Pistol? Hah. Rubio may look like Pistol but he has a long way to go to BE Pistol. Once my guy Tyreke was gone at 4, as I thought he would be, the trade for Foye and Miller looked even better to me.

Man, I really hope Dajuan Summers slips into the second round. I'd give up Young and our 2nd in a heartbeat to get in the 25 range to pick him.
