Rubio's value

Post#1 » by MLC84 » Fri Jun 26, 2009 4:15 am

Kahn labeled Rubio as 'tranformative'.

How long before he can be a more-tan-solid NBA point guard? What is his ceiling?

Does he have more value right now in a trade? What would you need to get back?

Will he try and force a trade? What would it mean if he says he will go back to Spain for 2 years?

Clearly, they must be thinking of trading Rubio or Flynn. Who would be looking to pick one of them up?

He has great value as a franchise PG. Wait, whats that? Minnesota needs a franchise PG? Perfect fit then.

Ricky will end up being the best player from this draft. You got a huge steal. He'll make Love so much better, and Jefferson will be that much more efficient.

10 of what? The draft is already over, and you have no way to guarantee that you'll have the 10th pick next year.

Either way, as an official RealGm, I reject that trade and counter with Flynn + Craig Smith for Rudy Fernandez.

What is Jonny Flynn, then? His back up? Strange use of pick #6.

Insurance in case Rubio doesn't come over immediately? Trade bait? The starting Two (according to Kahn)?

A 6' shooting guard? Kahn is full of crap.

No way Jonny Flynn is a 2 guard. Maybe Kahn got stuck with that #6 - trying to turn it into something else - and they just decided to take their best available player at that spot. But keeping them both (and especially playing them both togther) doesn't make sense. You have a short uptempo backcourt and a short, slow half-court frontcourt. What about this need for length Kahn was spewing on about?

That makes much more sense. A mid 20s pick next year isn't really worth much of anything, though.

I'm guessing that they'll have Rubio play the Point on offense and guard the opposing Two on defense, and vice versa with Flynn. Either way, I agree with you, it really doesn't make much sense.

I'm guessing that Kahn is just blowing smoke at this point, and once the Rubio situation is cleared up, Flynn will be traded for a real Shooting Guard (I'm hoping for Rudy.)

I agree that the 2 won't be able to play together, but I also agree that Flynn was probably BPA. I am as confused as the next guy, I really want us to aggressively convince Rubio that this is his team to run, not just convince him to stay, but make him excited about it. I really don't think he will dislike the city. People talk more trash about this place than anywhere in the country, which is good because it keeps the riff raff out. Despite all the Rs, Ricky Rubio is not Riff Raff. We need to hire an ambassador to get Ricky excited about being a T'wolf.

Rubio's value...undetermined.

Rubio's value=Sun Yue, both phenominal passers, both young and skinny, neither can hit an outside shot. Neither is blazing fast or quick, neither can play D.

Word is the reason we wanted James Johnson at #18 was in order to package him and Flynn to Sac for Evans. But if you are too ignorant to realize that this draft was a crapshoot and that we took Flynn because he was arguably the BPA then i really dont know what else to tell you except enjoy your summer, 6th grade is just around the corner.

1st ... I do think there's still some legs to the rumored MN/SAC deal sending Flynn to Sac for Evans. Supposedly we were to give Flynn/18, but the player they (James Johnson) wanted was off the board. We could still end up with Rubio/Evans if there was any truth to it.

2nd ... There's a lot of value to Rubio. If he wants to stay over in Spain, we still hold his rights. Last week we heard the Rubio family state that MN would be a fine place. The rumor is NY, but NY is the rumor mill of all rumors. They have one of the worst run franchises in all of sprts, yet fail to realize people who come there, come for their money.

3rd ... If NY wants him, I'd guess by now that MN has a price.

If any team went into a draft counting on that kind of contingency, they deserve to get stuck. So this crapshoot cost Miller and Foye (not gold, but 2 nice chips to have) and got you back what, exactly?

How about a deal based around Kevin Martin for Rubio, craig smith and fillers?

you guys could look like this next year:

Flynn
Martin
Brewer
Love
Jefferson
