Chronicle: Rockets still trying to acquire Rubio

Post#1 » by DraftBoy10 » Fri Jun 26, 2009 5:44 am

They went hard after several early first-round picks, and an NBA executive with knowledge of their trade talks said late Thursday that the Rockets are among several teams still trying to acquire Spanish point guard Ricky Rubio, one of several point guards selected by the Minnesota Timberwolves.

I thought we would be targeting Harden or Rubio...Rubio was it. Curious to see what's on the table and how it goes down for the next couple of days with some aftermath trades still to be determined.

Time to shine, Morey. And all you have to do is go brain pan for brain pan against that nitwit GM in Minnesota. This shouldn't be difficult at all.

Hell, see if they'll throw in Al Jefferson.

I wonder what we'd be offering though, the excess of second round picks probably used as some sort of bait. I doubt anything happens though..

I am under the assumption that T-Mac, Brooks, and Landry are our main trade baits so I took a glance at the Wolves roster to see whether or not they would fit. The Wolves have solid PGs in recently drafted Flynn and Telfair and good/great big men in Love and Jefferson, and since they traded away Mike Miller and Randy Foye, I think their biggest need right now is a PG who can score for himself and a slasher. Brooks and T-mac fits that bill nicely and if the latter doesn't pan out, the Wolves could just not resign him and save a hefty 20+ million for the 2010 free agency. But besides Rubio, I don't know whose crappy contracts we could soak, as I am not familiar with contracting.

T-Mac would look good in black/green/and that abominable other color they wear. The Wolves have to wear the ugliest unis in the league.

What can we possibly offer? They don't need a PG and their frontcourt is stacked with young talent. That leaves Battier and McGrady as our only assets.

Doubt this happens. We're not going to beat Knicks' offer.

I wonder if Morey is confident that we could bring him over right away, assuming we actually had a chance at getting him. Yo, we have a lot of players stashed overseas... Eliyahu, Newely, Leunnen, and now probably two of these picks.

Rubio could get some contracts for sure if he comes to Houston, lol. Chinese people already know him from the olympics!

Actually the Rockets could put together a nice package.
To begin w/Minn has no shooters left and none of their SFs has any kind of outside shot.
So,Brooks,Landry,Barry, the rights to Budinger, the 2010 First and $3mil for rights to Rubio,Brian Cardinal and Carney(perhaps using TE for Carney-going off memory on salaries.)

Hype sells tickets and would help us market the game. If we sign ron, we'll have the globe covered from Queens to China to Spain and Argentina. Is it safe to say that marketing in today's game makes more money than ticket sales?

You must have forgotten what the Bobcats unis look like.
