What is the Rubio situation?
I just got home and I am seeing threads about Rubio to the Knicks and Rubio staying overseas.. What the hell is going on? I don't want to sift through every thread. Can someone please give me the run down on what has happened since around 9 tonight? When did these Knick and overseas rumors start? Thanks
*Now that I am looking through the threads it seems like most of you were drunk and are now probably passed out.. I haven't even looked to see who the Wolves got in the 2nd round yet, MUST HAVE RUBIO INFO.

Re: What is the Rubio situation?
Rubio slipped to #5 and we took him, then we started the uproar by drafting Flynn at #6
Knicks fans, as per usual, got on their high horse and decided that they are trading Nate Robinson and Jordan Hill for Rubio without actually realising that we can decline trades. The media ran with it even though there wasn't really any evidence of Rubio being unhappy with playing in Minnesota. His Dad mentioned that he may play in Europe for 1-2 years depending on how talks go with the Wolves.
Ricky has basically just said that he's happy to finally be in the NBA and his main concern is getting minutes. All the negative stuff is media BS and Knick fans dreaming

Re: What is the Rubio situation?
Thanks FairDinkum. I saw the whole first round but never heard any of this Knicks stuff that is why I was so curious. So it was just Knicks fans that were talking about Rubio being traded to them?
That would suck big time if he stayed overseas. Kahn better convince him to play here this coming season.
One last question, are Rubio/Flynn really going to play next to eachother in the backcourt? At first I didn't like the idea. But now I really don't care who is playing SG as long as Rubio is on the team.

Re: What is the Rubio situation?
Kahn said his motivation for taking Flynn with Rubio was to try and duplicate the Isiah Thomas/Joe Dumars backcourt. Only problem with that is that Joe Dumars had a jumpshot
I think he forced himself into that idea once the rumored deal for Evans brokedown
I love Flynn but hate him on this team with Rubio

This will never ever work. A small PG that is supposed to play SG? Two real PG's on the court at the same time, both who need the ball in their hands? Who will get the outlet passes? Who will lead the team?
Rubio won't come over till Flynn gets traded. Taking Flynn was a slap in Rubio's face. Why pay 4 Mio on your own when the Wolves don't really trust your abilities?

Re: What is the Rubio situation?
I'm still convinced that Kahn took Flynn to trade him with the #18 for Evans and the #23. I also think that he had good reason too do so, up until it didn't come to fruition of course
Although if I am wrong, and Kahn legitimately believes that Rubio and Flynn are the Wolves future backcourt, then he is simply an idiot

Don't worry ... Rubio will be a Wolf for the next 15+ years.
-NY is THE "rumor mill" ... they're used to people wanting to come for the money - but the secret is, they have never figured out that that it is really "for the money".
-We're either going to trade a PG soon or we're not. If we make a trade, it will be Flynn.
-Rubio's deal is playing time. I totally understand, because if he's not going to get it, he may as well stay in Spain and play out his contract. Perfect sense.

Kahn wanted Evans.. sacramento screwed him by not taking Rubio... so now it is a mess... Rubio won't come and will be a disaster.. Kahn better trade the guy, or it will be a wasted pick

We're going to have to be a little patient on this. I think Kahn will meet with Rubio and his posse (Mom, Dad, Fegan) and, if they all feel comfortable with Ricky coming over this year, Flynn wil get traded.

When he see's that Minnesota is like NBA Siberia, he'll demand a trade . People forget that his father and his agent are going to be in his ear telling him what he should do.

Fair, you are so right the Knicks fans can suffer wait until 2010 when Lebron stays in Cleveland Nate and Hill are garbage. P.S. Thanks goes to the Wolves and G-State for screwing the Knicks I love it.

I'm pretty sure the entire NBA, sans Knicks fans, gave a collective "LOL" when Curry went before their pick

Re: What is the Rubio situation?
All you need to know is that we're trading Rubio and Love to the Knicks for Eddy Curry and Allan Houston's contract (only 3 more years left at the bargain rate of 28 mil per!!!) because the Post said so.
Take the Favre situation, drop the ego to around 150% of a normal human being (as opposed to Favre's 400%), add a bunch of gullible Knick fans spoonfed bull**** from their oversized media, and enjoy the "summer of Rubio".

Why did you leave out the part of the story where Rubio's father told a Spanish newspaper, after hearing that his son had been drafted by Minnesota, that its now likely that Rubio would stay in Spain for the next two years?
The media started the NY rumors because it makes sense. NY wants a Pg and Minnesota's drafted two guys Pgs who most basketball people think are incompatible as a backcourt tandem. Rubio and Flynn are both PGs who need the ball in their hands. Neither is a off guard who can float and slash around the floor to create their shot. Since there is only one ball offensively I don't know how that's going to work. Defensively its also a backcourt that can seriously get exploited by height and quickness.
Heck if you listen to ESPN or any national outlet this morning Minnesota/Kahn is getting for even thinking that a Flynn/Rubio backcourt is remotely possible.

Re: What is the Rubio situation?
Obviously there's a likely trade coming. However, just because the Knicks want Rubio doesn't mean it makes sense. What do the wolves get back? I want nobody on that team. So unless it's like 2-3 unprotected 1st rounders, I'm not interested in trading with them.

Re: What is the Rubio situation?
To break the contract with DKV, Ricky would have to pay 4.700.000 €uros. With the salary of a number five pick (inclusive taxes), isn't sufficient to pay.
We are now waiting to see how Ricky's lawyers settled his contract with DKV, and if the spanish team facilitates the departure of Ricky.
Also, Ricky isn't sure about the intentions of Minnesota and that they chose another PG.
Best regards from Spain! GO T-WOVES!

Well if ESPN said it it must be true.

ESPN, other media outlets, and people like you are talking out of your ***. No one KNOWS, not believes, but KNOWS what a Flynn/Rubio backcourt will do. This is made even sillier by the fact that Rubio has yet to play on an NBA court with NBA rules. For all we know Rubio is hot garbage and would look like **** playing next to Jerry West (in his prime).
You know what makes sense? People taking their time, seeing what develops, and not pretending to be able to predict the future. But that's if people have any interest in conducting themselves in an intelligent, rational manner, which apparently is not the case.
