10 Point guards were drafted in the first round this year. So logically you could figure 10 are on their way over seas. I think the jazz could pick up a better back up for Williams than Price. We all know sloan will not play Maynor this year. So who would be a better player than Price. The following are point guards that are available this year.
From the list a few that I think are possible and would be better is Damon Jones, Tyrone Lue, Jacque Vaughn, Stephen Marbury, Bobby Jackson. I am hoping for a veteran to help this team out.
Bibby, Mike
Brown, Bobby
Carter, Anthony
Crawford, Jamal (eto)
Diener, Travis
Felton, Raymond (R)
Hart, Jason (just plain funny)
House, Eddy (PO)
Iverson, Allen
Ivey, Royal
Jack, Jarret (R)
Jackson, Bobby
Johnson, Anthony
Jones, Damon
Kidd, Jason
Knight, Brevin
Lue, Tyronn
Marbury, Stephon
Miller, Andre
Ollie, Kevin
Price, Ronnie
Quinn, Chris (R)
Robinson, Nate (R)
Sessions Ramon (R)
Singletary, Sean (R)
Vaughn, Jacque
Watson, C.J. (R)
Wilks, Mike

Re: Forget Ronnie Price
Just because 10 were drafted doesnt mean 10 will play and be in a rotation.
Alot of the teams are like ours in that they wont hand the reigns over to a rookie.

Re: Forget Ronnie Price
Out of that entire list, I'm not sure I see a single realistic, cost effective option who would be willing to play in utah as a backup for 10-12 minutes a game that I'd rather have than Price. The guy's done a pretty good job backing up Deron when given a chance. Once you get over the fact that he's not a true point guard, you realize that he brings some really positive things to the table. He's exceptionally athletic, he works really hard, he's a big time sparkplug, he's a feisty defender who puts a lot of pressure on the ball and creates turnovers and he has some talent as a shooter and scorer. He's not overly consistent in that regard and his decision making still needs work, but he's certainly a more valuable reserve than Jacque Vaughn or Damon Jones. I mean, seriously.
I'm pretty happy with the duo of Price and Maynor backing up Deron.

Ditto to all that.

I think I agree, maybe Anthony Johnson but he is the ONLY player (and a one year rental). Plus he has to opt out of his current contract.

Me too, I'm perfectly OK with Price and Maynor duking it out for playing time behind Deron. Losing Brevin Knight is a foregone conclusion. I think that Maynor makes the team from the outset and takes Price's role from last year and Price takes Brevin's pt. Or vice versa, we'll see...

Re: Forget Ronnie Price
Jerry Sloan already said yesterday that Maynor will be there to backup Deron alongside Ronnie Price. So unless he goes somewhere else....which is not likely given he lives here and his wifes family is from here. Ronnie Price isnt going anywhere.

I believe you can scratch Crawford off that list as he had to waive his ETO in order to be traded.

It isn't a sure thing that Price will be back next year at all. Sloan said that he will back up Deron but that is still quite a long shot.

Re: Forget Ronnie Price
Jazz brass appears settled indeed for Price/Maynor as Williams backups.
However, any team can make Price a good offer, and may be Price choose to play for that other team.
I think Jazz will tend Price an offer by 00:05 AM July 1st, and then the agent will tell price to wait a number of days see if there's a better one from another team, before answer to the Jazz.
