I think GS is playing poker:

As one NBA source told me just before the press conference started, this is destined to be a drawn out experience. The Warriors are refusing to put Curry in any deal for Stoudemire, and the Suns aren’t doing it without him.

Whatever the tentative deal was before Curry was selected and the Warriors started imagining him scoring 20 a game… it’s off for now.

Now both sides can sit and wait for a while to see if the other budges.

Poker, basically.

Traxxe wrote:Nelson really wants Curry. Enough that he thinks he may be able to build around a core of Curry and Amare it seems. Just saying. My own speculation. That bodes well for Phoenix in any 'negotiations' we have.

Well, if they're intent on that duo, they know who to give up to get it done. And according to Bucher's reply to me on twitter, he said we preferred that player and settled on the 7th pick.

This is insane. GS wanted amare and they weren't planning on having Curry anyways.

Don Nelson is the ultimate manipulator. He LOVES mind games. That's what he's doing now.

Suns won't get Curry for Stoudemire

If the Suns make an Amaré Stoudemire trade with Golden State, they won't be getting Stephen Curry in the exchange.

Multiple league sources said Golden State is unwilling to part with Curry, who the Warriors did not expect to be available with their seventh overall pick in Thursday's draft.

The Suns and Warriors were prepared to make a deal that would have sent Stoudemire to Golden State for the No. 7 pick, Andris Biedrins, Brandan Wright and Marco Belinelli until Curry became available at No. 7.

The Warriors introduced Curry at a Thursday press conference, where Golden State coach Don Nelson told reporters, "He wasn't drafted for somebody else. He is not going to be traded. He was drafted because we think he is going to be a terrific player and he's going to be right here. So he can unpack his bags, he can relax, go buy a house, because he ain't going any place."

The team's general managers, Phoenix's Steve Kerr and Golden State's Larry Riley, acknowledged having trade talks but denied any agreement.

The teams will continue talking about how a trade could be worked out but it is now just among several conversations the Suns are having.

Many variables and factors at the moment.... not to mention Warriors seems to be going back on their word, it seems GM and coach are having difference of opinion and there is a heated debate...

simple... if Curry doesnt come with the deal.

Suns then demand Randolph and 2010 first pick.

They want Curry and Stoudemire core, then you gonna have to give something up for (1) Going back on your words (2) Having a finisher and scorer big man in Stoudemire and a future star in Curry at the one.

I'd be "okay" with Randolph.... and 2010 pick.

Paul Cora just said on Espn that Warriors will not deal Curry to Phx and the deal is basically dead.

Maybe Kerr will get the sense to keep Amare and sit down with him for an extension. After all, he owns the Warriors.

I'd actually prefer him over Curry. Forget the 2010 pick if they do so. Like I said, according to Bucher we wanted him first and settled on the 7th pick.

Guys .............are trades only allowed to happen in the span of 48 hours? C'mon.

LOL @ any GW fan who thinks they're going to be allowed to keep every single cornerstone player they have and just drafted AND get Amare.

They've got a talent pool of Ellis, Biedrins, Randolph, Jackson, and Curry. They're not just going to have Amare delivered to them knowing that. It takes a bit of quality to get a player of Amare's caliber. Put down the NBA Live every once and a while and come on back to reality.

Exactly. Some of them actually think they can pawn off their lesser talented young players to get him lol.

Keeping Stoudemire is not option 1 though.

(1) He will walk out since Suns brass "hurt" his feelings, and if he does stay he will not take any form of home town discount, he'd demand a 3 year 75 Million extension...

(2) Sure, get Chandler here for Wallace's contract, and just develop Clark. But if you can fleece Warriors and get Randolph + Beidrins + 2010 First pick + Bellinili for Stoudemire.... I think thats an okay deal.

Kerr can still redeem himself if he keeps this team as is and brings in Chandler for the fabled AMARE/CHANDLER front court.

I hope this deal breaks down. If Kerr budges and accepts this deal without Curry coming, I'm done with the Suns until we get a new ownership and FO.

Amare/Tucker for Beans/Bukie/Morrow/Randolph/2010 1st round (top 3 protected).

Screw Curry, if the above deal is available, i'd take it. If Curry isnt available, add Randolph and 2010 pick and get it done!
