Daniels Option not picked up

Marquise Daniels is now a free agent. Do you think we will sign him for cheaper?

I hope so. We need the depth on the wings and Quis was great filling in for Dunleavy early in the season. He was the Robin to Danny's Batman.

Only thing is, I don't know why Quis would come to Indy for less money when there might be a contender looking for depth.

If he'd resign for about $2 mil I'd give him a 3y deal say 3 yrs $7million with a player option each year. Q is a good player he showed that at times but he's not gonna get big money or even close to what he was making due to his getting hurt alot.

But for now maybe people will stop including him in trade offers. Those of us who know the business side of the NBA have said for 2 yrs that Q wouldn't be extended.

Not a surprise. I'd be surprised if the Pacers re-sign him to any multi-year deal. He doesn't fit O'Brien's system, is injury prone, and doesn't exactly have a sparkling clean record.

Besides Tinsley, Daniels is the last of the "trouble-makers." I won't be sorry to see him jacking up 3s at a 20% clip for a different team. If we want cheap depth at the 2, bring back Kareem Rush - makes for a good story.

The Rush brothers? Let's get Joey Graham, too.

Marquis wasn't just a decent penetrator, but also a good defender who had the athleticism to keep up with wings and had the size and the hair to block them out for a while. To some teams, he's worth the MLE, but it'd be a stretch to see teams pay more than that.

I always liked Daniel's game. Good defender and finisher. But I will be surprised if he is able to command anything close 2 mil a year in current NBA economy. He has proven to injury prone. Anyone investing that much this summer is going to expect the player to be a dependable rotation guy. No question Marquis has the talent for that role. You just can't count on it.

For the Pacers though, 1 mil for 1 year would be a decent gamble and it would pay off if he could stay healthy until Dunleavy gets back.

While I don't predict his return, he may be overlooked during the Free Agency somewhat. Stranger things have happened.

I really have a hard time seeing someone giving him the MLE, especially in this economy. We'll see what kind of offers guys are getting once free agency opens up.

If we traded Ford for Stackhouse, we could probably offer the full mid-level to a free agent PG.
