Is WADE a possibility?

Post#1 » by Octolor » Sat Jun 27, 2009 3:28 am

Can we possibly get Wade in the 2010 free agent class.

(No Garnett Anything is possible nonsense.)

Do we have a slot to sign him? (Ray Allen)

If Miami thinks he is going to walk, lots of uncertainty here, would you trade Rondo and Allen for him?

I guess you think Rondo is a throw in.

Wade is a free agent in 2010, i don't think he is trying to trade Ray Ray for him. Think these thing through first.

roughly here is all the things that would have to happen to sign any max guy, and keep pierce and have a chance at keeping allen, or using the mid level on someone else

we would have to have pierce opt out of his 20 something mil deal, more on this in a sec

renounce pierce and allens birdrights

the cap is at 58 mil, and cant exceed around 50 mil if we want to keep our mle and lle, because they count against you when you are under the cap

sign x player to max contract

convince paul to sign a deal that would keep our salary below around the required number of 50 something, the deal would likely have to be somewhere around 10 million a year, but it would have to go for around the max number of years so he can make up what he is losing by opting out, and then make a little money off his move

offer allen our MLE, pretty much the only decent contract offer we could give to him in this scenario

then we theoretically give rondo his deserved contract extension, which would have no limits on it since he has bird rights

and we have a roster that would look roughly like this

rondo
allen
pierce
garnett
perkins
max player (fill in who you want)
big baby (assuming we resign him this year)
giddens
walker
hudson
1st round pick
2cd round pick
and maybe house

from there on danny would have to be very creative

so no, its not likely we get wade, or any max guy in 2010, especially wade though because he has said already that he is ready to sign an extension in miami

If wade wants our of MIA than a simple trade for Allen and Rondo has a chance. To say it has no chance is just foolishness. It doesn't have a great chance but I'd say we have a better shot to land Wade than half of the teams in the league do because presumable if he wanted out of MIA he would want to go to a good team and we would still have Pierce KG and Perk.

If we get Wade we don't need Rondo. You can't have a brick laying backcourt of Wade and Rondo. Its hard enough on the offense to deal with just Rondo. Do you guys actually think about these proposed plans?

Rondo is not that useful without the ball - and Wade is practically useless. Wade needs to be paired with a shooting PG.

I'm not for getting Wade purely based on his health. Man, he's a young guy, but his body is in bad shape. He is aesome when he does his thing, but it is very taxing on him to play that way, and if he played a more reserved style, he simply wouldn't be as effective. He's only a litle over 6'4", and getting up there like he does means coming down hard... a lot.

Wade is no longer a "bricklayer", at least from midrange. He shot his 2 pt jump shots at .431 this season, which is actually pretty good. The same percentage as Brandon Roy, for example, and no one is going to accuse him of being a bricklayer. It is his three point shot which isn't so hot, but I figure that he will get better at this, considering that his mid range game has developed so nicely.

The thing is do you want to sink a huge chunk of money into a guy with the health issues that Wade has? I wouldn't. You could be looking at a dude who is completely used up at 30, kind of like how T-Mac is. Awesome talent, but too many battle wounds.

Wade doesn't have much around him in Miami so there's a chance of him leaving, but I worry about him holding up.. He's a smaller guy who takes a pounding..
