Turkoglu makes even more sense now
With Evans and Martin in the backcourt, Turk makes sense as a playmaking 3 with Thompson and Hawes at the 4 and 5

He makes no sense unless you wanna try and compete for an 8 seed now. He is already 29 years old and wants too much money. Maybe if he was like 5 years younger or something he would make sense. The Beno deal last year already hurt our capspace for 2010, where the real free agents we should be targeting are.

I'd rather compete for the 8 seed with Evans having a good rookie season and maybe bring some excitement back to Arco than be the worse team in the league again. I want the Kings to stay in Sac, because if we have another crap year like last year, we will be gone and I don't want to have to go to see the Warriors if i want to go to a game
Which 2010 free agents are going to come to Sac? I can say about none. They would be better off staying with the teams they are on and making more money than coming to Sac. I love Sacramento. I grew up here, but its not going to appealing to big name stars

I think Hedo would be a great addition but he's at his peak now by the time our young guys are ready to be contenders he won't be.

You have to be a good team before you become a contender. We need talent first and foremost and Turkoglue is one of the best free agents and is actually like Sacramento.
I don't want to overpay for him but something like Kevin Martin is making for 4 years would be not be a bad to me. 5 years would be pushing it to me. We would have to clear up capspace to sign him though I think because I don't know if he'd come at a discount

I'm not sure what you're saying to me, "You have to be a good team before you become a contender." I said, "...by the time our young guys are ready to be contenders ...". I didn't say this roster is going to be contenders, I'm stating that IF everything pans out with Evans/Greene/Thompson/Hawes,etc. we're looking at 3 years from now and Hedo will be on his downside by then.

I said you have to be a good team before you can become a contender, meaning signing Turkoglu makes us a better team now and improves are talent which allows us to compete at a higher level every night, and our players are forced to develop faster because players develop faster and better when winning rather than losing. Turkoglu won't necessarily be here when we start contending, neither could Martin or Garcia or Thompson or Hawes or even Evans. It all has to be with talent level, what moves we make and who we bring in. We just have to work on becoming a good team again, then worry about contending and making the right moves to contend

Why the heck would we want another SF?!?!! We JUST drafted another SF, plus we have Greene still AND Nocioni still locked up until the apocolypse!! Oh, and Garcia can play the three.
So how does turkoglu make more sense?

Re: Turkoglu makes even more sense now
On paper he might be a good fit, but in reality probably not. We need a guy that will stand out of the way and play defense at the 3. Nocioni is actually a pretty decent fit in reality.
I want nobody in the way of Evans, Thompson, Hawes, Donte, etc. getting the touches they need. If not now, then when? There is no better time than now.

HEDO ='s
Makes Zero, 0 ,Nada , Null , No sense what so ever for us anymore there is no pint in paying this 30 no defense to his game , hardly gets to the free throw line & the majority of his game is shooting 3's & outside shoots a starting salary of 10 + million a year for 4 - 5 years his contracr would be terrible !
Not to mention we have GARCIA , NOC , GREEN at the small forwad position already even if we traded 1 or 2 of them HEDO'S contract would be bad for us at this point !
I say no way to getting him .
We should be looking at point guards & centers only !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! right now

I like how you think you are strengthening your argument by putting 0 four different time in 4 different way.

One, Turkoglu is an average defender but he wouldn't be brought in for defense. He would be brought in for his offensive skills which the Kings could desperately use. There are not a lot impact defenders at the 3 that can completely change our defense (unless you want Artest back) and make our defense respectable
Two, We don't have a problem getting to free throw line so his lack of ability can be covered up. His ability to play point forward and his cluitch ability would outway that little fact
Three, Garcia is a bench player. He is only fill in starter at best. You really want him a starter moving forward? Noc can be easily moved and I won't be surprised if he is gone before the season starts. With all these teams making moves to become better, somebody is going to take a chance on him. I wouldn't be surprised if Boston makes a move for him.
Having one of the best point forwards in the league (Lebron being easily the best obviously) makes no sense after drafting a combo guard to be our point, no sense at all, forget the fact that we become a better team as well and improve our talent

You didn't answer my question about having 4 SF. You said Garcia is a bench player, but what about the two young first round picks of the past two years that need time to grow? And you say Noc can be easily moved... How?

Re: Turkoglu makes even more sense now
I can't believe people keep talking about this. Unless we have a plan to get rid of either Noci, Garcia, Greene or Casspi, how would we even give Hedo enough minutes? Maybe we feel that Greene will spend alot of time in the D-League this year (doubt it), but even then, I want to see what Casspi can do. And sure, Garcia can spend most of his minutes backing up Martin, but I think we will still add a veteran SG before the season starts.

We are full at the SF spot. We will not be adding a SF, we will be adding a C or PF and thats that..

My problem is that we have Nocioni, Casspi and Greene pegged at the 3. We have Garcia that can play the 3 as well as Thompson. SF is our most covered position. Meanwhile, we have NO back-up Center. And I'm sure many want an upgrade at the back-up PG position as well.

Re: Turkoglu makes even more sense now
I would do a Beno/Nocioni for Baron/DeAndre Jordan swap...then look to sign Hedo in Free Agency.
New roster:
C: Spencer Hawes, DeAndre Jordan
PF: Jason Thompson, Jon Brockman, Kenny Thomas
SF: Hedo Turkoglu, Donte Greene, Omri Casspi
SG: Kevin Martin, Francisco Garcia
PG: Baron Davis, Tyreke Evans, Sergio Rodriguez

PF: Jason Thompson, Jon Brockman, Kenny Thomas
SF: Hedo Turkoglu, Donte Greene, Omri Casspi
SG: Kevin Martin, Francisco Garcia
PG: Baron Davis, Tyreke Evans, Sergio Rodriguez

They actually like Beno and wanna move Baron BADLY. Nocioni also fills a big need for a defensive 3 man, who can spread the floor.
I think the hang-up would be the Kings taking Baron.
Maybe a 3rd team takes Baron for spare parts?
