Is the clock ticking on Nash's days with the Suns?

i think so. A) extending him at this point wouldn't make sense unless it was for cheaper than he deserves. B) why would he want to stick around here when he could go to NYK? C) Sarver's cheap/evil enough to not even pick up his option for next season. D) if kerr really is cleaning house, then Nash is the next to go

vaj was it you who mentioned Kerr/Gentry mentioned Barbosa + Nash a lot in that press conference, like they were trying to ease the pain when they inevitably part ways with one/both

yeah i understand letting nash go now that we're blowing it up, but trading our spirit animal barbosa makes no sense at all in my mind. He is, weirdly enough, the face of our franchise now. And i'm fine with that.

Yeah I think Barbosa needs to stay, unless a deal just blows the FO away.

with all of this being said, of course i want to see nash retire a sun, but i don't think that's in the cards and i don't think it's fair to have him stick around for the rebuild when he could be partying hardy w/ d'antoni in nyk

I really hope if we trade Amare they do the right thing by Nash and trade him for whatever they can get to a team with a chance to contend. He deserves that from the FO. I will of course miss him but i want to see him have one more shot in the plyoffs.

^that's what will piss me off if he goes to NY...clearly they're looking at 2010 and not a title. He'd be better going to HOU, POR or even MIA

first of all, they're not going to trade amare.

secondly, they'd be (Please Use More Appropriate Word) to trade nash. there are no comparable players who'd move and it'd set us back to a 25 win season. Nash is the main reason the Suns are any good.

I'm a Blazers fan and would like no better that the Blazers would trade for Nash for
our coach Nate McMillan always brings up Nash when the subject of PG's comes
up.

I don't know if the Amare deal will come off or not but if he goes, Phoenix is looking
like a 25 win team after the Shaq and Amare trades. There's some speculation in
Portland that Jeff Pendergraph who we just drafted is going to be dealt so perhaps
an unbalanced deal involving Bayless, Pendergraph, Rudy Fernandez and whatever
else to make a deal work for if your going to be a 25 win team, it might as well be
with a bunch of young players who will get better.

Which championship caliber team needs a PG, anyway?

Orlando has Nelson, Boston has Rondo, Cleveland has Williams, Spurs have Parker, and there ain't no way Nash would be dealt to the Lakers.

No contenders have PG spots available.

As soon as I saw NY choose Jordan Hill with their pick at 8, my immediate reaction is they are picking a guy to get Nash. Kerr loves Hill despite his low-basketball IQ, and Walsh and Co over there probably know that, and would be more than happy to use hill as bait to attract Nash to be on their team.

Maybe Nash for Hill, 2010 #1 (unprotected), Mobley and Chandler

I don't know if NY would do that, but that's what I think it would take to pry him away from us.

this is a pipe dream, there is absolutely no way the Suns could parlay a 36 year old Nash for a third of that. The unprotected pick alone would end the discussion. Hill is likely too steep as well. I dont even see them trading Chandler for him straight up.

It's obvious the Suns arent the ones holding any leverage when there's a fire sale going on.. You did see us give Shaq and his 20mil soon to be expiring deal for nothing right? Anyway Portland looks like a good fit to me. They dont have to be championship contenders to meet my criteria of wish list candidates, just a playoff team.

As a knicks fans taking Hill/Douglas are either replacements for Lee/Nate Rob or Walsh wanted flexibility and some bargaining power for later this summer. I think Lee and Nate are in for a big surprise come contract time as Lee is not getting the 10 million that Hedo couldn't even get from the Magic. Lee at a relatively cheap price would complement Big Dre perfectly though.

I think though that NY is not willing to give up any young talent/picks for Nash. Mobley's $ and expirings I can see. But honestly Nash can go to NY when his contract is up and NYK does not need a PG that much since they aren't winning the title next year (although with Pringles and Nash reunited anything is possible). NY can sign Kidd even this year if they wanted Duhon's stopgap az back to the pine.

I dunno what Nash will fetch you guys, and I would think if you trade Amare what is the point in keeping Nash around? I see TOR or NY or an Eastern Conference team bc Kerr can't trade him West even for the 2-4 years he will stay around.

Also wasn't there ridiculous talk of Barbosa to Memphis for a 2nd rounder just to save cash last deadline?

Barbosa is nice don't get me wrong but it doesn't seem your management values him as much or maybe it was just during that time. I hope Mike D sees a Barbosa type talent in Toney Douglas that is for sure.

I know everyone hates the Knicks but I think Nash wants to play for Mike D again and it seems like a good fit. Kerr better not try to deal with PDX and Pritchard unless he wants to be fired sooner than what seems inevitable.
