whos (or who was) better forsberg or sundin

Post#1 » by why22 » Thu Jun 25, 2009 3:06 pm

well sundin scored more points in his career but forsbeerg has 2 cups but forsberg played with sakic, blake , foote, bourque, roy while sundin played with tucker, cujo, mccabe, kaberle, alex mogilny so who is better/more valuable

Casey: yeah I know, we needed spacing
BC: play him more (walks away)

Well Sundin is obviously better now; Forsberg can't even skate anymore without tearing every ligament in both legs.

As for who was, definitely Forsberg.

Forsberg. The guy was a beast. He played with a ruptured spleen during a playoff game, went out to a bar after and didn't even know it happened until around 3 that morning he started throwing up blood. That is the player I'd want on my team. Plus, he had some skill.

Asa fan of both teams they spent the majority of their career with and both players, i think Forsberg was a bit better, although he was less durable. He was so incredibly gifted offensively, it was insane.

Forsberg at his best was a better player than Sundin. Sundin was more durable and more consistent throughout his career. Forsberg had some of the greatest playoff performances that I've ever seen. The guy just brought it in the post season. I mean in the 01-02 season Forsberg played zero regular season games and and out up 27 points in the playoffs. It is so incredibly difficult to start playing and have no rust after missing a full season.

At their prime, Forsberg was definitely better. Though Sundin is more durable, Forsberg has a Cup and when it comes down to it thats all that matters. If Forsberg was on the leafs however I think he would have been just as good as he was.

Forsberg was definitely better, he was arguably the best player in the NHL for a couple of years in a row. You could never have said that about Sundin.

Forsberg. Injuries stopped him from being an absolutely insane hockey player. He still managed to win a cup, and showcase some of the offensive skill that would have left him as one of the most talented forwards to ever play the game. A shame he went through so many injuries, I honestly feel we'd be looking at Forsberg as a top 10 forward of all time if it weren't for the injuries.

At their primes it was Forsberg and is wasn't all that close. He was the best player in the league for a while, especially when healthy. You can't say that about a lot of guys.

I agree with the general sentiment about Sundin. He'll be remembered as an extremely consistent guy with amazing durability (30 goals a year for 15 years). Even when Sundin had serious injuries, he'd "heal" from them in a remarkably short amount of time. I remember him breaking a leg and coming back after just over 3 weeks (usually a 6 week injury). If you take away his final season when he chose not to play the first half, he played in 91% of games he was eligible for, averaging over 1ppg and about 32 goals per season.
