Free Agent Talk/Lineup Suggestions

Post#1 » by moevil » Sat Jun 27, 2009 9:30 am

Hey. I was thinking, what lineup we could be running on upcoming season. I mean, it's whole lot time until it's clear, who we have in our team, but still..

C: Okafor - Diop
PF: Diaw, Brown?
SF: Wallace, Radmanovic?
SG: Bell, Henderson
PG: Felton, DJ

Uhm, what about Nazr, Dontell, Ajinca? Is our PF sport backupped with Brown, I don't think so...
I think Dontell will be back too.

Well I think there is gonna be alot of trades.

Starting 5

Mek
Diaq
Wallace
Bell
Felton

You have to have DJ and Gerald in at the same time with Radman because Hendo is not gonna be a great 3 point long range shooter off the bat so it makes sence for the backup wings to play together alot

DJ
Gerald
Radman
?
Diop

As for Brown even with his athletism and team needs he is a 40th pick so until he makes the team I have to assume he won't.

your kidding about brown right, the guy was a first round talent who like blair and some others slipped to the second round and we should be glad to have him. He's a combo forward with three point range can handle the ball, block shots, and can play the more athletic forwards.Ill bet you he does.

He might but everybody said same about Derrick Byars. were is he? Look 90 percent of 2nd rounders don't make it. I hope he is a steal but Im not gonna put him in my mock rotation just yet until he at least signs or rips up summer league or does something to tell me he is more then a 2nd rounder.

we still need to acquire a pf.

i like the idea of bring back dontell. he impressed me more than cartier. cartier is gone. see ya.

i would be cool w/ asking juwon to come back for another year. i'm also fine w/ bringing may back for vet min.

would love to see us sign sheed or mydyess as our backup pf/c.

We know who the starters will be to start the year if Felton resigns and no major trade is made.

The Felton, DJ backourt has seen its last days unless there is an injury.

Nazr will get more minutes than Diop until he gets traded. He should anyway considering he can actually hit a jump shot.

Brown better be decent because he is going to be needed.

Radman will play alot at the 3 and 4.

Diaw and GW will play the most minutes having to make up for not having a legit backup 4.

Lex is going to prove useless once again this year.

Henderson will start a lot of games if Bell or Wallace get injured.

McDyess would be awesome!

I wish we would have offered Landry a bigger deal. What did we put on the table for him like $3 million a year for three years? Houston owes us, a lot.

Wallace/Diaw/Okafor/Felton/Bell
Vlad/Need backup PF/Diop/DJ/Henderson

After that Derrick Brown, Alexis Ajinca, and Nazr Mohammed are pretty much here unless something happens.

You've got to figure that Larry Brown will look to add a 3rd PG and resign Raymond Felton (or my depth chart will go to hell). Jefferson could be the 3rd PG. Then of course add another frontcourt player. I'm fine with bringing back Juwan Howard. Sean May has to prove himself. I just don't see any reason to keep unless the Bobcats get a major add to the frontcourt like say Antonio McDyess.

Diop will play more minutes then Nazi. Brown could sit for a year or join Lexi in the D we don't know.
LB and MJ like making deals and the team is not done meaning deals should be made so this is kind of moot. Deals will be done even if it's just 1 or 2.

I feel like we can do better than Juwan Howard. Although, It's nice to have the veteran leadership, and he's not a complete disaster on the court. I don't have a specific player in mind, I just feel like someone can be had for 2-3 mill per year. Mcdyess would be great, but I'm not optimistic.

Hopefully one of Brown/Ajinca/Radman steps up and locks down the first forward off the bench role.

The starting lineup will be:
Felton
Bell
Wallace
Diaw
Okafor

Our bench will be Augustin/Henderson/Radmanovic/Diop. I think near the end of the season I can see LB using this 9 man rotation. Early on he might mix it up with our 10th-12th men.

We could use a backup power forward. Maybe someone to spell 15-20 minutes from the rest of our bigs. Juwan Howard won't hurt us at all. He can play those minutes and give something in return.

I have to admit I want to see May come back on a minimum salary.
I know he has frustratingly underachieved, but I see him as a bit of a wild card, who could become a solid bench player if he EVER pulled his finger out.

Otherwise if he can't get a gig, I'd welcome him to the Australian League, his fat ass would do well down here.

How about Marquis Daniels? He could back up the 2/3 and even 1 in a pinch, would be good insurance for injuries or Vlad Rad form slumps.

Only if we could get him on a cheapish deal though, He's not worth spending big on.

Trade Wallace for Boozer and call it a day.

Okafor / Diop / Nazr
Boozer / Brown
Diaw / Radman
Bell / Henderson
Felton / DJ

I don't see us bringing in a high dollar MLE SG when the greater need is at PF.

Boris at 3 and Boozer at the 4? So much for our defensive minded team.

Any fan base would love to have Boozer as there 4 except you guys. Its strange.
I would rather keep Gerald though and try and get a 5 even if it means trading Diaw and moving Mek to the 4 or getting a 6'11 pf.

I went over to nba.com to watch a tape of their analysis of our draft. Eric Snow, David Aldridge and the guys loved our draft. They then start to discuss the team and AI. They all feel that AI will sign with Charlotte. They feel that with our draft adding solid depth to our bench, that with the acquisition of AI, we will make the playoffs. It is a good watch for about 8 minutes and I highly recommend watching it.

Watching that video has convinced me that I now want AI on this team. Say what you want to say about Iverson and how he'd be trouble for this team but I think we need change. AI would be able to come in and play for Brown who he's played under and get this team over the hump. Now the only think is with AI, Bell, and now Henderson at the SG position I just don't know how much minutes can go around and you know Allen is gonna want to play where ever he goes. At first I didn't want AI for this team but I am starting to change my mind. I can you tell you this much he'd at least get people in that arena.

But for some reason I don't think it'll happen and I wouldn't be upset if it didn't happened but I am starting to open to the idea.

If this team can do something to make an immediate impact on this lineup they must do it. I know folks here want us to keep the same people, even bring McMay back (NO!).

This franchise needs a JOLT! Winning brings people to the games, but it's also entertainment. You'd better have a reason to see the Bobcat's beyond what college they attended! If we sign Iverson, that means we deal Bell (likely for a swing guard). I would also suggest trying to make a deal with Cleveland and swap Diaw for Varejao. The Cav's would do a S&T then move him. This would be a good move for both teams. Varejao gives us size, rebounding and a decent offensive game at the 4 to pair next to Okafor. He's not the shooter Diaw is, but he's young and will continue to improve. Cleveland gets a multiple option 4 whose size isn't as important with Shaq in the middle, and who can get the ball to LJ. Without such a trade we still need to secure a quality big to back up Diaw...but not Howard, not McMay. Enough of the re-treads. Get Drew Gooden, Channing Frye, or Brandon Bass.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Yeah I guess I wouldn't mind trading Bell if AI were to come but I don't think I'd want to do a Diaw for Varejao . I don't see how that'd make our team better. But I really want to keep our starting 5 intact if at all possible.
