REALY?! AJ PRICE!?
I stated my beef with AJ Price in the grade thread... and he sucks at defense. (How committed to defense are we really? We can't even contain the point of attack).
Guys I think would've been much better picks (in no particular order)...
Ahmad Nivins
Lester Hudson
Jerel McNeal
Somewhat better picks...
Dionte Christmas
Robert Vaden
Jeremy Pargo
Worth a shot...
Patty Mills
Nando De Colo
Paul Harris
Total flyer...
Luke Nevill
Garrett Siler
Any random foreigner

Re: REALY?! AJ PRICE!?
I'd say that Price has no chance of making the team. Patty Mills was at least worth a shot. Too bad Jodie Meeks didn't fall to us because he's gonna be the steal of 2nd round, better than Blair.

Re: REALY?! AJ PRICE!?
Any late second rounder is a long shot to make a team. Price has shown a few things that make him interesting to the Pacers. While he doesn't seem like a perfect fir, if we keep Jack and Ford what do we really need out of him? He is a player that can push Diener for a spot on the roster.

Re: REALY?! AJ PRICE!?
If only Danny Green would've slipped another 7 or so picks we could've sured up our depth at the wing and had an all-UNC draft night.

just because he was the PG doesn't mean he led them to anything. That team's bread was buttered by Thabeet. Price just happened to be the guy that was playing PG for them.

Re: REALY?! AJ PRICE!?
In order for Price to make the team something has to give. We have 5 point guards on the payroll so one of them has to go in order to free up minutes. Tinsley's not going anywhere so Jack, Ford, or Diener. If that doesn't happen, we just don't have the room for him. We're too thin in other areas.

thats just rediculous...yea thabeet was a great addition to the team...but the offense obv was created by a.j. he did a great job in his 4 years leading that team. he was teh one taking the shots at the end of games, never hesitated to take the shot as well...i just think you need to watch more college basketball before you say he was just the guy playing PG for them
he does need to improve his FT shooting though

Aaron Jackson, a guy I left off the list, is joining the Pacers summer league team. Now, this dude I like. Big and efficient PG. Way better prospect than Price.

Re: REALY?! AJ PRICE!?
You guys are seriously underestimating Price. He was the heart and soul of a very very good UConn team. Without him they would have done nothing. He is coming off an ACL injury taht takes 2 years to fully recover from. He is a bit out of shape, but once he is in shape he will be even better. He is an upgrade over Diener and should backup either Ford or Jack. I am a huge UConn fan and I have followed AJ his entire career. Trust me, he will be a great assest to the Pacers.
I have to call out "Dunthreevy" man you know nothing about college basketball if you think Thabeet was our bread and butter. Thabeet was a big liability on offense, but the best defensive player in the country and just huge. UConn's offense was AJ Price, especially after Dyson went down. He has a very good jumper, he is smart and has good ball handling skills. He will be a better defender once he is in better shape. I am thrilled with this pick, he is a 2nd round steal.

Re: REALY?! AJ PRICE!?
Jury's out on whether Price will be a legit NBA player, but there's no question that anyone who says Price was simply along for the ride last season doesn't know squat about him, UConn, or college basketball in general. Or is talking without having watched UConn last season.
Price was equally as important to the team as Thabeet was, especially after Dyson went down. If you watched UConn, you'd know that the team had no flow without Price on the floor.
Even if you watched Price this year, but didn't watch him the year before, you haven't seen the whole picture. After coming back from the brain injury and sitting out another year because of stupidity, he finally became the star everyone thought he would be in 2007-08. He was an efficient floor general with a dangerous mid-range game. His offensive game really focused on putting the ball on the floor, either going all the way to the hoop or pulling up in the lane. Then, in the NCAAs, he suffered an ACL tear.
This past season, it took a while to show the explosiveness that he showed the prior season, and it was never there 100%. The knee is fine; it was mental. He managed to get drafted because he became a deadly 3-point shooter. Not only does he have NBA range, but it's a high-arcing shot (think Ben Gordon) that he can get over taller defenders. If -- albeit a big if -- he can put together the driving game he showed as a junior with consistent outside shooting, he will stick in the NBA.
His PG skills are good. They could use improvement. Although his defense definitely needs some work, it's not bad. UConn's perimeter guys played very aggressively in terms of going for steals but did not do a lot of handchecking (UConn committed the least amount of fouls in the country) because Thabeet (and Adrien) were sitting in the paint. So if you saw a guy blow by him, there's some reason why AJ "let" him go by rather than be more physical. (Admittedly, his lateral quickness is not phenomenal.)
My two cents. Take it for what it's worth.

Re: REALY?! AJ PRICE!?
To pass on a guy like Mills to take Price shows me that management believes he will be able to accomplish something. I have faith that he'll be of some use to us.
