I should also note because maybe it hasn't been said:
Player(s) were told they are going and the deal was layed out. Conditions existed. You don't tell a player to start doing X and X and get verbal acknowledgement from them unless you had a deal in place.

I can pretty much guarantee this ain't happening.
Or we don't do the deal and walk away
Ding, ding, ding! 99% chance this deal is finished.
Golden State gets their reputation dragged through the mud.
I'm pretty convinced that Kerr believes he was lied to, but also that he's a dull blade. As far as GS's rep being tarnished: Don't think they care and I'm not sure it could get much worse anyways.

The Suns were double-crossed to some extent but the framework of the trade still looks like it will go down when pushed.

GM's lie to the press and players. That's one thing. It's like part of the job description. Lying to other franchises and going back on a deal is another thing completely.
lol @ Randolph as consolation
untouchable, absolutely untouchable.
Randolph
&Curry.

Consolation... heh... maybe not the right word. The deal would be different though...
Anyway, as proof that GM's lie:
Thursday: ""That's absolutely false," Suns General Manager Steve Kerr said Thursday night when asked directly about a Stoudemire to Golden State deal."
Friday: "We have talked with them [Golden State] about that particular deal," Kerr said referring to Stoudemire to Golden State.

7th pick was really the consolation right? Bucher said we wanted Randolph from the start and settled on the pick.

You're right. The deal's probably done. If I'm Kerr, I walk based on the bait and switch.
And the very moment Amare is traded elsewhere, I burn Nellie to the ground in the media. Said this on other forums, but Nellie's been around awhile. He knows better than to pull this crap.
Whether people respect Kerr or not, he'll be seen differently. That's because you don't back out of a handshake. It was big news when Boozer did with CLE -- and it is now with situation.
Plus, there are people close to the situation that are respected leaguewide. David Griffin, Kerr's replacement-in-waiting, is seen as an up and comer around the league. Jerry West was ready to hand him the GM job in Memphis before Griff turned it down to occupy the position in Phx someday.
If he says it went down the way Kerr says, other GMs will take notice.

Other GMs already 'know' how to deal with the likes of Nellie....
Kerr has learned a lesson. The rest of the league is getting a good chuckle out of this whole thing.

That may be. It's a mess they're happy to be far away from.
But this sort of thing has an effect. Bucher's hinted at this as much as anyone.
Hope GS likes their team as is. The only way to change it in any significant way, now, is through the draft.

Yeah this is just how Nelly rolls. Kerr brought a knife to a gunfight and now he's stuck big time.

I subscribe to the theory there is a division with the Warriors lead by Nellie.
Nellie been the most vocal while Larry Riley been measuring his words. Suns dealt with Larry, not Nellie. Larry isn't going to renegade or else no GM will deal with him in the future. Signs are he isn't going to renegade by evidence they are already in contact with Amare's agent and know now they can extend him.
Neither Riley or Kerr has said there is no trade.
Like I said before, we haven't heard the last of this trade.

Rather sad that other GMs are probably looking at Kerr like he's the small scrapper trying to take on the big bully.
Anyone else see Milhouse taking on Nelson?
ugh

Maybe I've been living under a rock, but I've never seen Nellie as a formidable force in building a team.
Still - even if he's operated in this fashion on lesser levels, he just stepped up his game. GMs will take notice. I guarantee it.

Re: Say hello to the newest sun: Stephen Curry
This breaking an agreement deal is overblown. Some of you are talking about names being dragged through the mud... You really think that's going to mean anything in the long term? A team won't deal with us even if it's a good move for their organization and their fans because we backed out of a deal last month?
It's pretty clear at this point that the W's have the best offer on the table for Phoenix, even minus Curry and AR. If you want your FO to take a worse deal because they got their feelings hurt, that's up to you. You have to understand your position. It sucks. You have to trade Amare because he's leaving for nothing next year.
If the situation were reversed, are you going to sit at your keyboards here and tell me that you'd rather Kerr honor his promise and move one of the top-rated talents in this draft to the detriment of the Suns's future? Please... It's a cutthroat business.
