Bucher's word isn't indicative of anything; he literally hates Nelson so much he can't see straight. To wit:

That was Thursday night. The word from GS people from the moment Curry was picked was that he wasn't going to be traded -- and their reward was to have everything they said parsed to death in a search for loopholes, or be outright accused of lying (e.g., Bucher above). In fact, there's war-room footage of the GS front office celebrating, too, when the Wolves drafted Flynn at #6.

Then, yesterday, came the rumor that started this thread -- the gossip that the deal was now done, with Curry included. I'm sure IHG et al. were passing along accurately what they heard, since everyone else (from Bucher to people with GS media/blogs) heard the same thing.

Except for one small problem... it wasn't true. Which finally became clear yesterday when Nelson made his "buy a house" comment.

Then came the revised spin, which IHG et al. also reported here: "Maybe not Curry, but then we'll get Randolph!" Also not true.

And now the revised-revised spin: "Boo hoo, Nellie double-crossed us." IMO, this doesn't have any more truth to it. Teams make draft-related deals ALL THE TIME contingent on certain players being available or not available.

The W's wouldn't have given Curry's name to the Suns (after all, what happens if they forward the list to Minnesota or Sacramento?), but it's a good bet that GS said they'd keep the pick "if our guy is there." And after Curry fell to #7, they called and said, "Bad news -- Curry was our guy."

Everything since then has been Operation Save Face for Steve Kerr. Who needs to quit whining/spinning and make the best basketball trade for his team. If that's Amare to Chicago or somewhere else, godspeed. If it's Biedrins/Wright/Belinelli, Riley and Nelson will be happy to take his call whenever he gets around to it.

lol at the idea that GS agreed to trade the pick without knowing who was on board first...that would never happen...go watch the war room video...

LOL all you'd like. It's not a flaky source reporting it as such now. It happened.

That's convenient, Swopa. So anyone and everyone who is reporting it as such must be lying.

Well, enjoy convincing other GMs of that. Methinks they'll see it otherwise.

As a Suns fan this guy needs to go but no way GS makes that deal imo, i think Beans, Wright, Belli and Curry would be a steal for us... Hope to hell Kerr can pull it off but i doubt it

Bucher and Nellie had a huge falling out over the Webber situation during Webber's rookie season when Bucher was a local beat writer...I wouldn't trust anything he says on the matter...

if you say we can't trust bucher and the world can't trust nellie, then i'm going to stick with coro. and since you guys say kawakami is trash, who is a reliable source from GS's side?

Don't lean on that reasoning too hard.

During the last couple of Suns seasons, the one thing I've learned about the reporters who have a "supposed" beef with your team is that they are usually right. You may not like it, but they are.

Plus, Bucher's a professional. He's not going to bury himself by making crap up. He actually has some credibility - unlike guys like Vecsey.

I'm sure the information is sourced...doesn't make it true...if it were, Kerr should come out and say so...no downside to that...

One of the main reasons I trust Coro is because he doesn't seem to partake in propagating the rumor mill as much as a lot of other writers. Yeah, sometimes his stories seem a bit behind-the-times, but I think it's because he only reports truly solid info, and waits until he has that before spreading it. Then again, I could be wrong.

I think he will - or someone in the organization will.

It would be stupid for him to do it before Amare is traded, though. That needs to happen before he starts complaining about a bad Amare deal in the media.

What reliable source is reporting it? It appears to have come straight out of Kerr's sore butt.

Bucher. Don't care if you guys don't like his history with Nellie. He's pretty legit in this league.

Coro here at the AZ Republic.

Your own guy out of San Fran.

I'm sure you'll try and debunk each now. But smoke = fire in situations like these.

if you are going to talk, at least get your facts straight. I reported the deal being done 2 hours before the draft started.

later that night, ESPN and bucher starting talking about the damn thing.

And may i add the stupid deal was DONE, until GS starting acting like an ex-wife.

Prediction: Kerr won't say a peep about this publicly regardless. Privately, he will continue to pout about how unfair Nellie was to him to anyone who will reluctantly, knowingly listen.
