If the W's pulled a bait and switch, which I don't think they did, it would be stupid for the Suns to float it...the league knows that Amare's being moved and taking GS out of the equation reduces their leverage...lol at Kerr...

later that night, ESPN and bucher starting talking about the damn thing.

And may i add the stupid deal was DONE, until GS starting acting like an ex-wife.

That's beside the point. On Thursday, GS said they drafted Curry to keep him. If that's "acting like an ex-wife," fine.

The point is, on Friday you started THIS thread, saying the deal was done and Curry was included. As I noted, you weren't alone; whoever started that rumor told plenty of other people as well. But it wasn't true.

Have you gone back to your source and asked why he/she told you something that wasn't true?

Bucher's word isn't indicative of anything; he literally hates Nelson so much he can't see straight. To wit:
@sportsguy33 phx source says curry was picked for him, but gs source denies it, so we stayed away from it. i believe the gs source is lying.

That was Thursday night. The word from GS people from the moment Curry was picked was that he wasn't going to be traded -- and their reward was to have everything they said parsed to death in a search for loopholes, or be outright accused of lying (e.g., Bucher above). In fact, there's war-room footage of the GS front office celebrating, too, when the Wolves drafted Flynn at #6.

Then, yesterday, came the rumor that started this thread -- the gossip that the deal was now done, with Curry included. I'm sure IHG et al. were passing along accurately what they heard, since everyone else (from Bucher to people with GS media/blogs) heard the same thing.

Except for one small problem... it wasn't true. Which finally became clear yesterday when Nelson made his "buy a house" comment.

Then came the revised spin, which IHG et al. also reported here: "Maybe not Curry, but then we'll get Randolph!" Also not true.

And now the revised-revised spin: "Boo hoo, Nellie double-crossed us." IMO, this doesn't have any more truth to it. Teams make draft-related deals ALL THE TIME contingent on certain players being available or not available.

The W's wouldn't have given Curry's name to the Suns (after all, what happens if they forward the list to Minnesota or Sacramento?), but it's a good bet that GS said they'd keep the pick "if our guy is there." And after Curry fell to #7, they called and said, "Bad news -- Curry was our guy."

Everything since then has been Operation Save Face for Steve Kerr. Who needs to quit whining/spinning and make the best basketball trade for his team. If that's Amare to Chicago or somewhere else, godspeed. If it's Biedrins/Wright/Belinelli, Riley and Nelson will be happy to take his call whenever he gets around to it.

Obviously Bucher is reading this thread and got the rumor from you

I hate to say I was one of those that doubted you during the trade deadline when you said you lived near Amare but I believe you 100% now. The fact that you were the first one that reported that the Suns had a deal with the Warriors before any of the national media even mentioned Amare to GS should be enough evidence to prove that you're a legit source.

I think they'll wait until Amare is traded. Then I'll bet they have plenty to say on the matter.

What reliable source is reporting it? It appears to have come straight out of Kerr's sore butt.

Bucher. Don't care if you guys don't like his history with Nellie. He's pretty legit in this league.

Coro here at the AZ Republic.

Your own guy out of San Fran.

I'm sure you'll try and debunk each now. But smoke = fire in situations like these.

I'm not debunking anyone. The Suns' FO obviously thought Curry was in the deal and then cried about how Nellie doublecrossed them to anyone who would listen.

But Curry falling was obviously the deal breaker for the Warriors. So what? Deals constantly fall apart at the last minute over a lot less than the difference between Curry's potential and Hill's potential.

If the situation were reversed would you want Phoenix to give up Curry because they made a tentative deal thinking the best they could do was Hill? To save Kerr's reputation as a pushover? LOL.

Right now both front offices agree that Biedrins+Curry+Wright+Belinelli > Stoudamire. So if the Suns want Biedrins+Curry+Wright+Belinelli, they are going to have to sweeten the pot. Whining about how unfairly Nellie treated Kerr by not bending over enough for him isn't going to get anyone anywhere.

What the hell are you talking about?

I have no doubt the Suns still thought the deal was live into Friday. Kerr has said as much about being off the phones Thurs night.

forget my source, dont expect any more info from me because it comes out in hours, days, weeks later anyway.

i mean what is the point to let you people know before hand anyway, its not like your paying me for the info.

i told you amare was not getting traded 2 weeks before the deadline, ..did it actaully help anyone? the day came and it happened.

Here's the problem with that:

If Curry was the deal-breaker and they didn't say so to the Suns, they're breaking a freakin' deal. I don't care how they feel about Curry. If they didn't state it in the handshake, they're liars.

I know internet forums aren't exactly the place where you trust the word of someone who think they have priveleged knowledge but stop acting like a child.

If you've read this and the other thread you'll see that he's just reporting what has been told to him. Sure he has been a bit final in his words and couldve chosen them more carefully but essentially he was just trying to keep us ahead of the game and admitted in one of his posts that things *do* change even when there is an agreement. Deals fall over at the final hurdle all the time! Get off his back already or just don't read/believe what he says.

If our mod has verified that he does in fact have some privvy information and he has been ahead of the media on a few occassions that good enough for me. If it's not for you then just stop reading it. There's no need to bash him.

So let me ask, IHG: Do you think too much has happened now for the deal to take place?

Yep. Sure as hell do.

We did with Iguodala a few years back. We traded our pick to Chicago (who chose Deng). We didn't thin Iggy would be on the board still.

But that's how honorable people handle situations like this.
