No idea really. But, I would imagine they have made some sort of agreement regarding that ...
It would also be interesting to know what's written in the contract about that. Does Rubio just need to decide before that date that he's leaving, or do they need to sign on a buyout deal, or worse, does he actually have to PAY before that date ...

Anyway, I think we would hear much more about that if it was really that much of an issue. I think they made some sort of agreement regarding that. Joventut realizes by now that they won't even get the full buyout as it stands now, so no way they are able to get it after it increases.

IMHO, obv. :)

I agree. As much as I would hate to trade Rubio, I'm such a big DeAndre Jordan homer that I'd probably do it.

I would rather have Rubio, but if he had to go a Jordan+Gordan deal would be a nice thing to work with.

What do we do about the Watters article? Is Rubio and his Dad coming on sat? (*today or next week?)

If Rubio's former team doesn't work out acceptable terms that don't appear fair to the fans it becomes a HUGE PR disaster. I would expect it to be reduced to ~2.5-4m give or take 500k, spread out over 2 years. He will also instantly get a multimillion endorsement so the kid will be more than fine

Rubio to LAC doesn't really work because Baron dominates the ball so much and they are a thoroughly inept organization...as I asked elsewhere, what are any potential fair/possible trades other than Bynum next year? I just don't see anything worthwhile, and no, I would absolutely not take Beasley...I was thinking Josh Howard, but the dude is almost 30 and appears to be pretty immature...

If you let me to say what i think about this... :

The problem about Ricky Rubio are this : his buyout and his agent.

His agent wants the best for him and Ricky , of course , that's the reason why he wants to go to a "big market". I understand it. Everybody should understand it. Or Ricky Rubio pays his buyout or... there's no Ricky Rubio in NBA.

But... should you make that staments where you don't make "friends" nowhere , where do you look like a diva. Man , be careful with what you wish for. Do you want Ricky in a big market? Well , do it , try at the best of the ways. Don't let him look like this. You're being a dick and a spoiled brat.

Call Minnesota and say : hey , he wants to be here , but we need to pay his buyout that's the reason why we want to go to NYK , Rockets , or wherever they want to go. Yeah , it seems "too easy". But look , at this moment , this is the best way. If don't... he will go back to Europe , and he still be taking bad decisions. This way to join the NBA is one of the worst. Hey , the kid doesn't have to be the most love player by the crowd , but at this moment , this kid is almost being hated by his own fans.

He could have be in Europe two years more , until 20 , good age to go to NBA , with buyout , but they wanted it now. Well , accept it. Don't go back. If you do , stop doing this. Minnesota say you they will wait for you. I don't want to use bad words... but , do you know what this people has done for you? What this people have done for you to join their team?

Things like this make hate agents more than ever. Soccer , basketball agents , always the same.

The other thing , the most funniest thing i'm reading in NBA Forums , english and spanish forums is his statement about the cold. Yeah , agent or his opinion. Let me say this : Or you say ALL (worse) , or you say NOTHING. This is a phrase like... "It's cold , and i would prefer to have the New York cold than Minnesota cold because i don't "know"(actually , he doesn't know about NY too because he have been never over there , but i hope you get my point) nothing Minnesota. And i hope you all people understand this. The kid is 18. Yeah , talk about how adult he is playing basketball or whatever. But the kid is 18. The kid will be in another country than is like a world. Europe. America. Tell me you are in a different country , and you don't choose to be in the capital cities.

Well , thank you if you read all this message :D.

The rumor the past couple of months has been a Baron Davis for Cory Maggette swap. That would open up a spot at PG and give the Clips a replacement for Gordon. As good as Gordon was last season, PG is a much tougher position to fill than SG. If they're given the chance to pair Griffin with Rubio for the next decade, they have to do it. They could accomplish what we always hoped KG and Marbury would.

I'd take Gordon, Jordan and the return of our #1 although I think the Clips would rather move Kaman than Jordan.

With that said, I want to keep him. I'd much rather trade Flynn or neither, if possible. I hope this is one of the times Shooter is correct. Come on Kahn, turn on the charm.

I hate waking up every morning and seeing an influx of ridiculous posts from Knicks fans. I just don’t see why they continue to come back and post the same garbage over and over again.

“Rubio doesn’t want to play in Minny!” – I haven’t read this anywhere, its simply opinion

“It’s too cold in Minnesota, Rubio will only play in a warm climate!” – Once again, I haven’t read this anywhere outside of him stating that his mother doesn’t like cold weather. Even if true, how the hell does New York become more appealing weather wise? That makes no sense!

“You guys need a SF, Chandler and Nate for Rubio!” – We have Gomes, who is on the same tier as Wilson Chandler. I will agree that Chandler is a superior player to Gomes, no question, but he’s in the same tier of player. He isn’t a franchise guy, not an all star, he’s a solid starter, as is Ryan Gomes. Sometimes they occasionally come up big and influence a games outcome, but it isn’t expected, what’s expected is consistency and for them to play their role. Ricky Rubio is from all reports a potential franchise guy who happens to play one of the most difficult positions to fill on a roster. As for Nate Robinson, are you kidding? Firstly, he’s a 6th man at best, is a midget and doesn’t bring anything to our ball club that we don’t already have. We just drafted Jonny Flynn for gods sake, who has more promise, not too mention a far superior demeanor and attitude that is perfect for this team.

“Nate and Lee for Rubio!” – Guys, our two best players are power forwards… David Lee is a power forward, what the hell is this? Kevin Love at worst is going to have David Lee level production! This is ridiculous, neither guy is even signed right now either. If we need Nate so badly, I’m sure he can be had for the MLE so why give up a guy like Rubio? DUMB!

“Gallinari for Rubio!” – When he proves that he can actually stay on the court and there is verification that his back problems are gone, it’s probably a solid fit, but still not value. The Knicks would need to throw in some 1st round draft picks, but they don’t have any. This is by far the biggest question mark deal though as there are more “what ifs” associated with Gallinari's back than there are with Rubio playing for Sota’. No thanks…

“Rubio only wants to play for a big market so he can increase his exposure!” – See Garnett, Kevin. It wasn’t a problem for that guy in Minnesota

I can’t be bothered going through any more of these stupid posts and arguments from Knicks fans. Basically each and every time we state the obvious and reject their garbage offers they resort to insulting our fanbase, our team, the city, our GM, our forum, us and even Ricky Rubio, the player they are so desperately seeking.

Knicks fans are in no position to talk **** about the Wolves. NY org has been a laughingstock in the league for almost a decade now and if they want to attract some big name free agents next summer, they need to start winning ASAP and that's ain't happening with rookie Rubio at the point. Walsh understands this better then anybody, that's why he was lukewarm at best about Rubio's accusition.

Encouraging news. Wasn't he the one that said Favre was going to have surgery and it turned out to be true?

I can't sleep until I know what Rubio's decision is.

We haven't had this much talk with one player on our team since KG rumors started floating around. This move by Kahn will certainly get the Wolves more exposure and it probably is making Taylor a giddy man right now thinking of the money he could rake in with Rubio. I know we as fans shouldn't care about that, but Taylor happy = willing to spend on good players. Willing to spend on good players = winning team. Winning team = Happy fans. Happy fans = more money for Taylor. More money for Taylor = Taylor Happy. It's a cycle we need to keep up with

Yeah...

Look at these forums. How many threads do you see attacking LeBron and KG because they are white or "foreign"?

Yes. In fact, Rubio should not even be in the NBA for at least another 2 years. He's at the least that far from being an NBA player to be honest about it.

Why? The ACB or Euroleague is far better than the NBA summer league level. It would be the lowest level ball he has played in years.
