I'm a Leafs fan and I found their draft OK but kind of ho-hum...

I was impressed with Garth Snow. He held the #1 pick a secret and selected the best fit for his team (in terms of marketability as much as in terms of skill). He traded up to get DeHaan who even though he was ranked low, I'd heard lots of things about him being just as good, if not better than, Michael Del Zotto who was picked last year (#20). It's quite conceivable that some teams were eyeing him in the #20 range. Then, in the 2nd round, he picks the most intriguing goalie of the draft, Miko Koskinen who's 6'7" and 21 years old. And just when you think he's done with bold moves, he picks another huge goalie prospect in the 3rd (Anders Nilsson, 6'5"). The later picks don't stand out all that much but the overall feel of the Islanders' draft is that they're going to be trying new ways of doing things and good on them for that.

When Snow traded up, he had to know someone between 13-15 were gonna take Da Haan because he had the 16th pick. If no one was gonna take him, then that was a dumb move because he included a 2nd or 3rd rounder with that. Overall, his draft was decent. Taveres was a no brainer. I'm not sold on taking 2 goalies in the draft. He needs more help then at goal. 1 was enough.

I know what you're thinking. We're in the middle of a city, what's a hawk doing there?

Missed all of this -_- Was gone for the 48 hours without RealGM access at the worst time :( lol. Gotta say, I'm relatively pleased with the Habs selections, and I'm glad to see our scouts going after C's which we DESPERATELY are in need of.
