OT- Mark DeRosa Traded To St. Louis

AP - The Indians traded infielder Mark DeRosa to the Cardinals on Saturday night for reliever Chris Perez and a player to be named later, according to an Associated Press report.

DeRosa, who the Indians acquired from the Cubs in a trade last offseason, was hitting .270 with 13 homers and 50 RBIs.

I don't know much about Perez, but I do know that Cleveland is desperate for bullpen help. The price seems a little steep for a relatively unproven reliever, but Perez has a very good K/9 ratio, which is always a good sign for a young pitcher.

bad move for cleveland. they already suck and derosa was really good for them.

plus they only get a mid-reliever and a player to be named? sounds lop-sided to me.

I think the key is that they're getting a young reliever who seems to be a pretty good prospect. At 31-45 Cleveland knows that they're not going to compete this year, so this deal allows them to rebuild their bullpen while shedding some salary.
