Missouri's Leo Lyons to play on Pacers' Summer League Team

Post#1 » by mizzoupacers » Fri Jun 26, 2009 10:45 pm

According to tonight's local newspaper, Lyons' agent, Mark Bartelstein, says "As of right now he's commited to playing with the Pacers, and then he may go to Cleveland after that."

Haven't seen anything about who will be on the Pacers' summer roster, so I'm passing the info along.

Lyons ought to be pretty interesting to NBA teams IMO. He has a lot of natural ability and looks a legitimate 6'8". If he can hack it at small forward--and I think there's a chance he can--then he'd be a good prospect. Although according to news accounts (I've never met Lyons in person) he was pretty immature as a freshman and was still pretty much of an enigma to the Missouri coaching staff entering this past season, he seemed to buckle down as a senior and ended up having a really nice year--one of the keys behind the team's unexpected success.

^^A redundant one, too. When do the full summer league rosters go up?

Yeah, I enjoyed the fact that Leo Lyons played for the Tigers.

Whatever the species, Lyons is a big cat with some game. He may be a bit of a head case too, and I don't think he's a great fit for the Pacers since his NBA future (if he has one) is probably at small forward. But it wouldn't surprise me if he ends up making someone's roster.

I think it's a pretty good pick-up and definitely worth trying out. He'll be on a team soon I'm sure. On the Pacers Interview site, it says that he is a PF.

Leo Lyons:

The SL team is going to be pretty good I think:
Hibbert
Rush
McRoberts
Price
Hansborough
Lyons
Graham?

A redundant one, too. When do the full summer league rosters go up?

The SL roster/info should be up later this week or next week. We'll be playing in the Orlando SL which begins July 6th and runs through July 10th.

*On a local note, Luke Zeller (Washington HS, Notre Dame) will play on the Bulls SL team.
