OT - Soccer Air Horns

Post#1 » by evildallas » Sun Jun 28, 2009 7:19 pm

I happened to tune in the Confederations Cup final today (curious if USA could upset Brazil). There is some form of air horn being used by the fans. On TV it sounds like something between a wasp swarm and a traffic jam. It's not taken long for the noise to affect me and it's made me realize that if these things became allowed/popular at NBA games that it would be enough to stop me from attending. And I guess if I'm watching a broadcast I would have to mute it.

What's everyone else feeling about these noise makers? Am I being too sensitive?

I hate 'em, too. But have you ever been to a Miss. St. game and heard their COWBELLS?
My mother told me, she said, "Elwood, to make it in this world you either have to be oh, so clever or oh, so pleasant." Well, for years I was clever; I recommend pleasant.

Even during AAU ball they had different types of noise makers even inside the smallest gyms. It was very annoying and especially while trying to shoot free throws. About all you could do was knock down your shots and give the person with the noise maker (milk jug or cowbell) a nasty look.

Soccer games are so intense but luckily the mute button works.

I'm a huge fan of soccer (devastated by today's loss for U.S.) and those horns are incredibly annoying. I don't understand why they are so popular in South Africa? If you watch a game in almost any other nation you will hear chanting and singing which create a beautiful and unique experience for observers.
