So we traded our AAA closer for a guy who wont be able to play until next year, if ever again (Tommy John surgery).
Can't say I see why we did this one.

Man... I'm usually able to at least get an idea of what Beane sees in these deals... but I'm completely lost here. Supposedly, this guy is a hard-nosed, gritty player... but didn't we have that in Byrnes before?

Yes we did,and I'm with you,I usely understand what Billy's doing, but was shocked to see this. Leaving here in Indiana, there;s alot of Reds fans, and they really liked this guy,so the things they've told me and the things I've read,I'll give him a chance, just wish Billy would have waited till he was healthy.

Denorfia, he doesn't have any real weaknesses, but no overwhelming strengths either. (According to Baseball America). He could play center field for the A's next year, or serve as a fine fourth outfielder. The results have been there - Denorfia hit .349/.409/.484 in Triple A last year. That translates to above average offense for a CF in the Majors.
