Classic Olympic games final but with spanish comments. 80 min video, good quality.

Fernandez is a great scorer, I understand he's older but they don't match for a trade because A) Portland wouldn't do it (at this moment Fernandez is better) and B) Minny neither because Rubio's potential is very high.

Unsure if this was posted yet.

http://blogs2.startribune.com/blogs/wolves/

To address the little birdie and Charley Walters’ “report” that Ricky Rubio was in town — or due in town — yesterday to meet with David Kahn…

Honestly, I don’t know.

I’ve worked to confirm it, which unfortunately as a beat writer is a necessary, but haven’t been able to.

David Kahn promised “transparency” when he took the job but eventually said “Sorry, we have no comment” when I texted him numerous times to ask if has, or will soon meet, with Rubio and his father.

That he says no comment rather than deny it leads me to believe there’s something there, which isn’t surprising that the two sides would begin some kind of conversation face to face soon.

Rubio’s agent, Dan Fegan, has not returned repeated phone messages, except, I suspect, to hang up on me when he called from a posh New York City hotel this morning not knowing exactly whose call he was returning from his cell phone.

The New York Post reported Rubio, perhaps as early as Monday, is expected to receive offers to play for teams in Turkey and Madrid. Either team could pay considerably more to his buyout than the $500,000 that NBA rules allow the Wolves to pay.

So until it becomes clearer and the two sides become forthright, here’s some notes and thoughts on other subjects regarding the RRM (Ricky Rubio Matter) and word that’s coming in from sources around the league now that the draft is behind us:

* I can’t see Rubio and Jonny Flynn playing together because I don’t think Fegan will ever allow it.

He’s aiming for that big second contract to compesnate for the buyout millions Rubio is going to have to pay his Spanish team and he won’t allow the chance that Flynn outplays his client and diminishes his value when that second contract comes around.

* Kahn fielded offers to Al Jefferson on draft day — including one from New Jersey that offered Devin Harris, Yi Jianlian and the No. 11 in some sort of package — but don’t think they were considered all the seriously.

*Kevin Love’s name didn’t come up much, if at all, in trade talks other Memphis trying to get him and the No. 5 or 6 for the No. 2.

* The Wolves did turn down that Knicks’ offer of No. 8 and Wilson Chandler for the No. 5, which Donnie Walsh would have used to take Rubio and not Stephen Curry.

*The Wolves took Henk Norel from the Netherlands with a second-round pick as much for the fact that he’s Rubio’s teammate at DKV Joventut and is a friendly face as they did for his potential.

*Kahn is expected to hit the road next week to start his coaching interview search rather than stay in Minneapolis and let coaches come to him.

It’ll be interesting to see how many coaches are scratching their heads over the Wolves’ draft and wondering if they want any part of this thing.

But it only takes one who doesn’t, and it sure looks like that guy will be Mark Jackson, with Bill Laimbeer — who I hear Kahn spoke with he was saying he didn’t have a coaching list and wasn’t going to have one until after the draft — likely as an assistant.

Did you ever think that maybe the Wolves just don't want to trade Rubio? We're not expecting anything because we don't want anything for him.

I know you guys don't want to trade him, he's an exciting prospect, I get that, but I feel the Wolves likely will trade him . Kahn is saying he doesn't want to trade him, he and Flynn can play together, they'll wait however long for him ... etc, to create as much leverage as possible for himself and keep Rubio's trade value as high as he can. It's a smart move, I think he is handling this very well and I agree with drafting assets over needs.

KAhn's saying more than just that Rubio and Flynn can play together. He's called Rubio a "transformational player" and a "preternatural talent." That's creating an awful lot of local hype for someone that you just drafted to trade.
"A while back,'' Cardinal said, "I took a picture of the standings and texted it to Love, just to bust his chops,'' Cardinal said. "He sent me a picture back of a snowdrift.''

Personally Zgoda does not seem to care much for Kahn and I think sometimes looks at things through just one angle. He is determined that two point guards wont work and if he has a grudge against Fegan, which I can not blame him for, he is going to assume that Fegan won't allow much. I think as long as we gurantee Rubio x amount of time everything will be fine. If Rubio wants to become a huge star he has to win and to win him and his agent can not be fighting every step the FO is trying to do to get there. It is very counterproductive and I hope Fegan will realize that and do whats best for his client.

Lastly, obviously Zgoda is currently speculating so lets not assume already that Fegan has any issues with Flynn until it is openly stated.

"I didn't speak with them, so I don't have to come," Rubio told Spanish media, referring to the fact that he didn't work out or interview with the Wolves. "The NBA is attractive, but if you don't want to be on a team at this time, well, you can wait. Right now, the work is that of the agent."

Zgoda wrote that in a recent article. I am doing some check because in the 2 ricky interviews we read yesterday he never said that.

what do wolves fans seriously want for rubio? as a knick fan, i think gallo for rubio would be a fair swap. knicks fans love gallo's playmaking ability and the wolves need someone that can replace Miller's production.

i'll reserve my opinion of the wolves fans' value for rubio until i see some more opinions, but i'm curious to understand what you all would want for a player that you won't ever see, and most optimistially, not for at least 2 years.

We want Rubio. We do not want to trade him.

We have no reason to trade him. We own his rights. if he ever wants to play in the NBA it will be with the wolves. The only way we move him is for legit young foundational talent at the 2 or 3. Gallo does not count. Someone on the Eric Gordon+Jordan level. if that is not offered I would rather sit and wait on Rubio.

This is also the indication Kahn has given the fanbase in the letter.

Truly nothing from the Knicks remotely interest me.

Hill- Do not care for a 3rd PF when currently our best two players play that position.
Nate- I personally think a Flynn/Rubio backcourt could work, but a Flynn/Nate backcourt would definitely not.
Chandler- Just not enough value.
Gallo- Might pan out but really not enough value since last year he was out so much with a back injury. I have not looked into it but a back injury can be a forever annoyance. It is not a like broken arm that heals and you move on.
You have no 1st round pick next year.

In all honesty, I think NY fans and FO, if they are even trying to pursue a trade, should go back to focusing on 2010 cap space and not on a unrealistic trade proposal.

Realistically we are not going to be a playoff team this year, we can wait. Patience is a virtue.

Until the words either come out of Rubio's mouth or Kahn's that he does not want to play here I am not going to believe random sources with no actual quotes stating otherwise.

Wolves want nothing for Rubio. Don't even bother with trade proposals, anything another team considers reasonable will get shot down.

I wrote up my own personal list earlier in the thread:

AQuintus wrote:[

No kidding. Here's a list of players I would trade Rubio for straight up:

Lebron
Dwight
Rose
Durant
Paul
D.Williams
Roy
Wade

Rubio probably won't be better than any of them (and maybe not as good as any, either), but he does have that kind of potential. New York doesn't have the assets to get any of these guys, either.

So get to work on some three way trades.

I go this from Sham's draft diary (which is much funnier than Simmons' by the way):

Rubio's mom is kind of milfy, no?

Is there a reason why I was once again threatened with a ban here when I only posted something that was true? I was the one that notified Minny fans here of the Rubio-Real Madrid situation and I was called out, insulted and threatened with a ban for doing so. What is wrong with this forum?
