Oberto possible......

Post#1 » by Kefa461 » Mon Jun 29, 2009 2:00 pm

"Forgotten 2008/2009 season in the NBA for Fabricio Oberto can be contrasted with a good start of the 2009/2010. In the year ends are stacked one poor result at the San Antonio Spurs Championship (final round), the discovery of a cardiac arrhythmia, the absence in the decisive leg of the contest, and finally transfer to a lower franchise might, Milwaukee Bucks, and then another one that I would not have it in mind, Detroit Pistons.

But now there is a possibility of hope for the former player from Athens, of Cordova, and Pamesa Valencia, Spain: Boston Celtics. Doc Rivers. The tournament champion for 2007/2008 would be two eaves of a house or a pivot, and interest to coach Doc Rivers. Celtics Next Wednesday will begin to have definitions in the market of free agents in the league (Oberto is in this condition) and the Athens Olympic champion in 2004, according to trusted sources close to Celtics could stop at a franchise, the most successful the history of the NBA, according to their curriculum".

Savvy guy, who knows how to play. Definitely an upgrade. Nice find. Hope it happens.

This. I'm in. Plus I like the dichotomy of our front court if we re-up baby with a tall skinny white foreigner & a stubbier american product

Oberto is a stiff, but at least he'd be a very cost-effective one. It's not like we'd need him to play big minutes and he's decent enough that we'd be just fine with him in fifteen minutes a night. I think the MLE is better served getting us a backup wing like Marquis Daniels anyway.

Everything you wanted to know about Oberto but were afraid to ask. I did ask. At Spurstalk, a huge Spurs forum. There are some good answers:

MLE!?!?! Oberto is an LLE only for this squad. He's coming off a season he played 12.5 mpg, he hasn't earned anything near an mle, especially at his age. However, he's no stiff, he's a smart player capable of providing very solid team defense and we certainly wouldn't be having the huge let-downs when perk comes out. Pollard was actually a good contributor to this team when healthy for this reasons, and oberto is a rich man's pollard at this point looking to avoid spending a year on a dysfunctional squad having grown accustomed to the professionalism of San Antonio. A heady veteran that appreciates what this squad is, sign him up.

ETA - after reading gant's forum topic, he's the perfect glue/chemistry guy should we move scals/tony for a wing or something.

I just reread what I wrote and it was a little unclear, sorry. I meant that I like signing Oberto because he's a decent big and we wouldn't have to use the MLE to get him, meaning we could use it elsewhere.

actually I think the vet minimum would probably suffice for this guy. The more I think about it, the more I like it, very belicheckian, Oberto can be our old, slow, white linebacker!

God help us though if we dip into the MLE for dahntay jones though...

A big improvement over Mikki. For under 3 mil or so, why not?

If we can't upgrade our backup C with something better, then definitely if on the cheap. Sounds like a solid player to put in for at least 10-15 minutes.

We need to do better. Sheed, McDyess, Zaza, Birdmen are all much better. Didn't we learn by getting Moore that we need to stay away from scrubs.

I'm sure Ainge will go after them also but he doesn't have a lot of resources.

I wouldn't offer him a deal. We need to make some deals to shake things up if thats the only kind of front court "upgrade' we can afford.
