That is a surprising.

I would guess it spreads out your fanbase a bit more. Also, Portland is a great little city with lots of fun stuff to do. Actually going to the Old Port this weekend. WTF does Springfield have to offer outside the HOF? Portland is hopping.

Thank god this pulled through. I go to school at the University of Southern Maine so I should be attending pretty much every home game. I'm pretty stoked.

Portland is a much bigger tourist draw then Springfield, no debates there.

Do we know if the NBA dictates where you have to be affilated with or is it up to the NBA and NBDL teams themselves?

I would think Springfield would be disappointed but they must be just happy to have a team.

Portland is a fantastic place to live - whereas Springfield is a dump. C's picked the right team, IMHO.

Springfield is not that bad now!!!

They have other things here not named the Hall of Fame
If you are into weaponry they have both the Springfield Armory and the Smith and Wesson company
If you are looking to entertain your kids they have the The Dr. Seuss Memorial and Museum of Fine Arts and Bright nights at Forest Park. Also Six Flags is right next door!
If you are looking to entertain yourself there are a hell of a lot of clubs in the Worthington street Entertainment District and I mean a hell of a lot of clubs!

I'm just hoping to see some of these rooks play!

Why don't the C's just pony up and get THEIR OWN D-League team?

I just read that Houston got its own team.

Then we could play who Danny and Doc want to play, and the coach wouldn't be concerned with winning, but rather, with developing his players. You could take a bunch of fliers on guys and see what shakes out.

The D-League can still be good. They need to get rid of the stupid team names, the neon uniforms, the team-sharing, and the coaches playing 28-year old journeymen over 19-years olds with potential.

That's something they are working on. Eventually every team will have their own affiliate.

As a resident of Western Mass, I don't want our pups to suffer through Springfield. I'd really rather not have one of them get shot.

Fans in small communities will go to those games, and possibly build some loyalty. Springfield is just to close to Boston. Go to a Celtics game or NBDL game?

While I agree Portland is definitely the better spot it's only 20 miles farther away from Boston than Springfield is.

I'm so happy that we have a team, and they are Celtics-affiliated, as well. I will be attending as many games as possible!

Oh, and I was in the Old Port Festival parade with my greyhound right in front of the cheerleaders..... :o :o ......only thing was, they all looked about 16.
