Bring Charlie Villanueva to Boston
Milwaukee just let him become a UFA. This is the guy we need coming off the bench. Through in Anthony Parker for the LLE, and resign Marbury for 3 million. Make a trade using Scal, Tony at trade deadline for a big man. I would love these moves. Charlie V would win 6th man of the year with us.

So long as he doesn't send out tweets during halftime, then I'd love to see him in a Cs uniform.

I like the guy, but isn't he going for a bigger deal than what we could offer?

I mean it's possible. We would probably have to overpay him. I mean he's a young guy. Through the full MLE at him for not sure how many years. I think it has to be at least three. Would anyone else give him that. What's the Full MLE 7 million to start with salary increases each other year?

I mean the guys 24 years old and averaged 17 and 7 last year playing 27 minutes a game coming off the bench for half the year on a shi^^y a$$ team . I'd through the whole MLE at him.

Wow, really! Do you have a link for that? He's an east coast kid so that surprises me that he would choose to live in Cleveland for the same deal we could give him. And isn't Rasheed Wallace rumored to be going to Cleveland? How many people can they sign?

I'd love to see him here. But like I say, and will continue to say with all these names that come up (minus mcdyess) I see him signing elsewhere.

I only scrolled through 5 pages, but in those he only once mentions Cleveland fans showing him love. Was it somewhere else?

That's him.
There is no actual link. But just heavy rumors.
"well, twitterland like I said there will be more trades to come, very interesting, Shaq to Cleveland, nice, all Cleveland need is a PF now"

I mean I guess? It seems to me like he's talking about a lot of NBA teams in those tweets. I think that's reading to much into it. Also how many people is Cleveland gonna sign. Charlie V is gonna demand the Full MLE. So Sheed to Cleveland isn't gonna happen if that goes down. Guess will just have to wait and see. I think Danny would be crazy not to contact Charlie V at 12:01am July 1st to see if he can bring his tweeting to Boston.

Re: Bring Charlie Villanueva to Boston
I understand what you're saying. I would like him here too. I acutally just sent him a tweet, showing some boston love
But. Do free agents want to come here? no, really, I heard Pete Sheppard on the radio talking about how boston has changed, and Free agents will want to come here to win. Now maybe that is the case in the class next year, when we have a little dough. But like last year, when we offered the full MLE to Magette and he chose somewhere else for more money. I expect the same this year.

Yeah, but don't you think that Milwaukee is convinced that he'll be out of their price range, and would desire to start on a team. Boston can't compete with other teams that could lure him to them with the offer of a starting spot. I don't think winning a championship is on his mind more than signing to a big contract.

That's funny that you sent him a tweet. I'll do the same.
I think the fact that he's an east coast kid might help with him wanting to come here. If he wants more than the Full MLE I'm just not sure who's gonna pay that for him, but it's possible someone will throw out the dough for him. Also he's not gonna be starting so that might be an issue for him, but he'd be playing a ton of minutes backing up PP and possibly KG.

Why is tweeting any different than talking to a sideline reporter during a game? Serious folks. Walk and chew gum at the same time.

Re: Bring Charlie Villanueva to Boston
I think everybody needs to be aware that Cleveland is in a delicate position in terms of signing people. They traded for Shaq because of his one year contract. They are currently in position to sign Dwayne Wade, Bosh, Nowitzki or anybody else themselves if they don't take on any more salary. Should they choose to sign Villanueva, Wallace or anyone else it has to be for one season only or they lose their position of strength. Would Villanueva's agent allow a one-year deal? You tell me. They can currently decide their own destiny with LeBron by signing only one-year contracts and getting the pick of the litter this off-season, which is ironic that teams like the Knicks based their whole future for the thought of having their way with high profile free agents.
Although Grousbeck says their is a way for the Celtics to get a MAX player, I believe the Celtics best strategy is to go aggressively after Villanueva and make their current roster as strong as possible with their assets because 2009/10 may be their best shot with all things considered including their age.
So if the world is totally unfair, then the Cavs sign Wallace and Villanueva to one-year deals. If not the Cavs have a big decision to make with free agent signings.

Brad Stevens on fans who want the Celtics to tank: "I don’t think they’ll like me all that much then."

Good points. Cleveland IMO has to be thinking about Bosh in 2010. I think that is going to be the only way the have a chance at keeping LeBron is to sign one of the BIG FA's in 2010. Sheed might sign a one year deal. I don't see Charlie V doing that though. If your signing the MLE doesn't it have to be for a min of 3 years anyways? I could be wrong about that though.

Re: Bring Charlie Villanueva to Boston
For the Bucks Charlie V is not a starter and his QO is for 4.6 mil, they just brought in Amir Johnson at less money, by letting CV go they can now focus on signing Sessions whose contract maxes at the MLE instead of starting there. It is a business move but it isn't a bad one, his deal would likely put them into lux tax land. It also is much fairer to CV whether that is the intention or not, he is much more attractive as an unrestricted FA than RFA with a a 4.6 mil starting price.
As a player I think he is a very good fit for Boston, his a long combo forward with 3 pt range. In a lot of ways he is like Joe Smith the temptation is there to use him as a 4/5 because of his size but he just isn't a power player and will get kind of run over especially at the 5 but I think he could do some things defensively from the 3 spot with his length and get by at the PF and is certainly a match up problem on offense.
