Forget Ricky Rubio

Post#1 » by PetrieUnderstudy » Sat Jun 27, 2009 5:16 am

There are quite of few people here that keep bringing up his name. Who cares about Ricky Rubio. He was there for us at #4 and we liked Tyreke Evans more. I was watching an interview with Gavin Maloof tonight. He stated Evans was the guy they wanted and they backed that with their selection. The guy asked him if Evans was taken hypothetically by Memphis and Rubio was still available (he assumed Kings would take him) would they have gone with him. Gavin stated they would have gone with Flynn. So Rubio was at least our 3rd choice. So get over him.

How can you say this when we missed out on the next Steve Nash and picked the next Stephon Marbury?

For real though im with you, the picks over with and its very rare that a trade goes down to get Rubio. But in all honesty we should of nabed Rubio.

I.

Plus down_el, I am in a similar boat to you in questioning the pick, but it's over!! Our FO thought Evans was better, and that's what it comes down to. This thread is simply to say MOVE ON!

Yeah, instead of targeting Rubio via trade, maybe target Flynn......that way Minny can keep Rubio.

Kings deal:
Francisco Garcia
Sergio Rodriguez
TPE 6.5 million dollars

Wolves deal:
Etan Thomas(absorbed with Sacto's capspace)
Darius Songaila
Bobby Brown
Rights to Jonny Flynn

Why for the Kings - They get a more 'traditional' PG to go into their backcourt. Evans remains as a combo guard, Flynn a point and Martin a wing. Thomas/Songaila add big veteran bodies to help with the Kings roster.

Why for the Wolves - They move the unnecessary Songaila, get an instant cap relief of 6.5 million by moving Thomas, and get a very versatile, complete player to fill their void at SG. This deal makes keeping Rubio in Minny more likely and Sergio helps to ease Rubio's transition to the league.

New rosters:

T-Wolves -
C: Jefferson, Pecherov, Madsen
PF: Love, Smith, Cardinal
SF: Brewer, Gomes
SG: Garcia, Ellington
PG: Rubio, Telfair, Rodriguez

Kings -
C: Hawes, Thomas
PF: Thompson, Brockman, Songaila, Thomas
SF: Nocioni, Greene, Casspi
SG: Martin, Evans
PG: Flynn, Beno, Brown

I wish you guys could give up Kevin Martin 8-) If you did you would get a starting PG with your other talented SG, unless you guys plan on playing Evans at PG.
